The Juice of the day:

ingredients

I juiced the greens first.

Beet Pear Ginger Juice

  • 2 medium beets with the greens
  • 1 pear
  • 3 inch knob of ginger
  • 1 carrot (not pictured)

This recipe makes enough for two people to have a glass. It was very tasty!  I added a splash of orange juice to my cup later on to make it tangy.  Isn’t that color fab?  I am thinking about doing a weekly juice post.  Sound good?

mmm, juicing is so so good! what kind of juicer do you have? i have been eyeing the champion juicer 🙂

would you believe we somehow have TWO major industrial juicers? i get into it in the summertime, and you are right… kind of a big piece to just leave out on the counter/kind of a pain to bust out every time you want juice.

but you are making me reconsider. SO healthy. those beets are beeee-yout!
has coops tried any? bet he would love it, but better be careful. that stuff will make for some wicked baby poozers. when i buy the odwalla carrot juice, i have to really limit the intake for dotty- we learned once the hard way. poor bum. i’ll leave it at that.

but let’s hear it for beautiful fresh juice! gonna have to bust mine out this week.

thanks for the motivation! just busted out our juicer with jackson, i forgot how much he loves putting all the fruit and veggies in! We made two batches of green monster juice – everything we had – kale/spinach/chard/celery/cucumber/carrot, one batch had an apple in it, but the one without was sweet enough with just carrots.

i love the beets, but read you have to be careful and limit raw beet consumption. more here: http://www.juicingbook.com/vegetables/beet – weird huh?

sammyw- I have an omega 1000 http://www.omegajuicersdirect.com/store.php?productID=120 It’s great! and powerful!

jenny- TWO?!!! Coops tried some beet and was into it- but I didn’t get him to involved as he wanted to put his hand in the juice and I WAS NOT HAVING THAT!!! I will watch out for the carrot- he tried some today and wasn’t that into it. In general, he’s not much of a carrot fan.

kara- thanks for the info! i’m looking at that site right now. I am so glad I was able to get someone motivated to juice! Especially with their son!! That’s awesome. What are your fave juices?

I’m super jealous of your juicer! I want one, just not the cleanup without a dishwasher. A dishwasher first and then the rest will follow. So I’ll make do with the juices from a local raw shop: beet, apple, lemon, orange and carrot juice. Yum!

We just made fennel and apple juice from this recipe: http://www.wholeliving.com/photogallery/detox-soups-and-smoothies#slide_5

Except my fennel bulb made a lot of juice so I only juiced one, with two apples, and one small lemon. I loved it, but I love fennel. It was very refreshing. Clay liked it too. Jackson thought it was too sweet, I just don’t think he was a big fan of the fennel. Gotta go clean the juicer again – boo.

So literally for the past 30 minutes I’ve been procrastinating and doing nothing but staring and sifting through your juice recipes. And now I’ve convinced myself that I MUST get a juicer. It’s been decided. Lovely posts! Lovely pictures.
