Our new fridge is here!

hello beautiful

Our new Electrolux fridge is here and I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE with it! It has exceeded ALL of my expectations!

goodbye :(

Our old fridge had a side by side door configuration. Freezer on the left, fridge on the right. I always felt frustrated trying to organize with this configuration. It was really hard for me to see what I had in my fridge at a glance and don’t get me started with how irritating it was to put beverages away! Since the old fridge was so narrow, I had to be clever at putting stuff away. As a result, food was hidden back in the deep crevices of my fridge…rotting away. It’s kind of like how you get excited because your new apartment has really deep cabinets, but you end up losing everything in the waaaaaay back cuz you have stuff blocking your way to get to it. Needless to say, I wasted a lot of food as a result.

AHHHHHHCK!

And here we have the new configuration…french doors on top & a pull out freezer on the bottom.

ahhhhhhh

This is what I see at eye level. THE WHOLE DANG FRIDGE!! Oh my gosh you have no idea how much of a difference this makes. I can see ALL of the fruits & vegetables I have…all of the beverages…all of the condiments…pretty much EVERYTHING. It makes grocery list making a snap now!

It was really easy to put all of the food from my old fridge into the new one because there are so many levels and layers of organization. It’s like getting a new purse that has every pocket you could possibly need or want. I’m still learning all the nuances of the new fridge…what should go where, what each drawer is good for and what all of the little buttons do, but I’m happy to report the fridge is installed and I’m totally loving it. I can’t wait to show you the inside of my freezer. It’s my favorite part!

It has already changed my life. Thank you, Electrolux!

oh god it’s such a thing of beauty. my heart is actually fluttering a bit.
i was JUST at home depot drooling over fridges the other day.

    congrats, lady!

Camp FRECKLE NEEDS A FRIDGE. You hear that Electrolux??!

Weird sidenote: I used to LOVE going to places like Home Depot when I was a kid. I mostly liked playing in the fake bathrooms!

I am so totally jealous! WANT! I live in an apartment with a horrible tiny fridge that freezes everything, (but hey it’s better than nothing, right?) In my dreams I have a fridge like yours, only the freezer drawer has a magical endless supply of ice cream…

    • Tracy

oooh yikes! Freezing everything is NO GOOD. Especially lettuce!

I do like this magical endless supply of ice cream idea. WHAT ABOUT THIS??? A soft serve dispenser in the ice maker component!

  • Vanessa

AH-MAZ-ING!! Love your new fridge!! Can’t wait until I am done with renting small apartments and move on to a house with a kitchen big enough to fit one of those lovelies!! 🙂

i would be just as excited about that fridge as you if it were mine. I totally understand your frustration of the rotting away food in the deep crevices, and really having to play tetris to cram all the groceries in… and everything looks messy.

I currently have a cheap old fashioned fridge i got off of craigslist when we moved into our apt…you know, the kind with the tiny freezer on top? And it drives me nuts…absolutely NUTS. Congrats on your new awesome fridge! Love the double door action.

I can’t wait to see the freezer drawer! I LOATHE my freezer drawer and dream of a side by side fridge like your original one. I’m hoping you’re gonna have some organization tips that will make me loathe it less 🙂

Can’t wait to see how it goes with the new fridge. A couple years ago I had an Electrolux side-by-side, but had to return it after a month because it never dispensed water and it would occasionally shoot ice at me! LOL. I do have a range from them, which I like a lot.

Anyways, your new one looks great! Enjoy that new fridge smell…

rut roh! That’s not good. So far things are great! And yes…that new fridge smell is awesome!

ok we got a new fridge last year and it’s side by side and too small for our family we have 5 kids I yell at my fridge once a day- it seems after it spits out something to the floor cause I can’t fit all the food in. Anyway here is my question let me know how you like the drawer freezer I hear some complaints that you can’t get to things easily cause everything stacked on top of each other. looking to get a bigger one soon but not sure which kind. Not sure if I have the room to open both doors out like that on french door model but looks so great and roomy.

I feel like I would buy a house just so I could have a fridge like this (wellll, if I had the money)! I currently share a one door fridge with freezer on top with my two roommates and limit my stuff to one drawer and the tiny top shelf. Just having a fridge to myself is a big enough dream for me. Looking forward to your freezer post!

How do I get on that list? Yes, I have a beautiful Viking fridge but that is all it is. Beautiful. Not well designed and sadly, not well made. I hate having a side by side. Sigh.

    WOW. Um….WOW!!!
That shot with both doors open?? I can hear the “AhhhhhhhhH!” angels singing. It looks pretty damn amazing. We seriously need to look for a new fridge and you’ve got me thinkin’ about this configuration!!!!

Congrats sassy lady. HOW MUCH DOES THIS RULE????

  • Christine

    I absolutely LOVE your kitchen!!

I have this Electrolux refrigerator. I like the arrangement. French doors make it much easier to see things than in my old side-by-side. I like the freezer drawer. There are two shallow racks to pull out and a deeper 2-section bin on the bottom. I did have several service calls to work out problems including door adjustments, replacing the computer which had been recalled and eventually replacement with a new refrigerator, same model. The second refrigerator had icemaker problems, icing up and freezing the cubes in a lump. The water that is dispensed is not chilled but the repairman told me that is normal since there is not a reservoir to hold water to keep it cold. Thankfully all service was done under warranty. Hopefully all problems are resolved and I can enjoy the french door/bottom drawer freezer arrangement with working ice dispenser in the door .
