Grapefruit Carrot Ginger Juice

I’ve been reading my monthly horoscope for over a year now at Astrology Zone. Susan Miller is legit!  Even though she keeps telling me I’m going to have a baby every month, she’s been pretty accurate with everything else. This month she says that us Leos will be getting into shape. I trust her; I’ve already done a juice cleanse this month!

If you listened to our first podcast in 2012, you might know that I want to treat my body right and be good to myself in 2012. I got a manicure last week and am hoping to get more massages in 2012. I also want to eat more whole grains, reduce my sugar intake and eat less processed foods. I think more juices like this one here would also pave the way to health in 2012. It’s a SUPER cold fighting juice. Just look at that color!

And we’re off!

Grapefruit. Carrots. Ginger. That’s it.

Cut the peel off the orange.

Juice the ginger. I always like doing this first. My juicer pushes it right through!

Carrot juicing. Delicious orange foam!

Juice the grapefruit and you have a little over 2 cups of deliciousness.

Tangy, tart and super healthy.

DRINK THAT BRIGHT ORANGE GOODNESS!

Grapefruit Carrot Ginger Juice

Makes 2 drinks

(recipe from Whole Living Magazine)

  • 2 grapefruits, chopped (peel & pith removed)
  • 5 carrots
  • 1 inch fresh ginger

Juice ingredients together. Stir & serve immediately!

  • Caz

This looks so healthy, perfect to keep those nasty cold and flu germs away. Thanks Tracy!

  • Amy

I love your food photography…the ‘orange-y ness’ of this delicious-sounding juice really pops against the grey, black and white! I want to make this. Right. Now. Thank you Tracy!

  • Katrina

    I seriously need a juicer!

  • Amanda

Just delicious looking! The bright colours always makes food taste better 😀

  • Heather @girlichef

That color totally rocks my world. I want to start my day with a glass of sunshine!

  • cindy

    treat yo’self!
I have everything to make this juice, on-hand… I’m going to make this RIGHT NOW!

  • Jen @ pretty plate

I just tried juicing the other day. I have to say, not that bad! I can’t wait to try this one!!

What kind of juicer do you use? I’ve always wanted to try it, just for a few days to cleanse this ‘hot bod’ and make it even more sizzlin’. hahaha! I’ve heard juicers tend to run on the expensive side. However, I think it sort of balances itself out when you look at the cost of buying pre-packaged cleanses versus when you make your own!

  • Katherine

I am doing the Whole Living Action Plan Cleanse and made this as a smoothie. It was also very good! Keep up the good work.

  • deebo

yes, i second the juicer question.. what kind do you have? i imagine that the cheaper you go, the less juice will be extracted from the fruits and veggies. juicing can be expensive, i wanna make sure im getting as much juice out as possible. you know?

  • Kelsey

I’ve never kept up on astrology but that site is fun! My horoscope (Capricorn) said the stork wants to visit as well, I’ll have to tell my husband that you can fight the stars! 😉 That juice looks awesome, I love carrot juice.

  • Chelsey

You make me want to start juicing! That is an uncomfortable sentence. What kind of juicer do you have? And do you recommend it?

  • danielle

i just made that exact same juice yesterday!!! it was so good. i love all your juice recipes (+others). i am also curious as to what kind of juicer you have …

  • Cammy

Also chiming in to find out more info about your juicer. I saw this recipe on Whole Living and have been researching juicers ever since. Any input would be appreciated!

  • Maria

I have everything to make this juice! Will be trying it in the morning!

  • Nicki Woo

Okay, you’ve convinced me to take that juicer my mom’s has been trying to shove down my throat. Now. . .where to store that hunk of a machine? Got any ideas?

  • Beth

I dig Susan but my favorite astrologer is Bridgett Walther. http://bridgettwalther.com/ Her scopes are super upbeat and almost always on the mark for me (Capricorn).

  • Val

My old “juiceman jr.” has seen better days, and I am looking to replace it, so I’d also love to hear juicer recommendations.
Of course one somewhat attractive is best, because I believe in keeping it on the counter where I will use it often.
    carrot-apple-ginger is great, too!

    • Val

Actually I see you have an Omega from the photo–would love to hear your review and which model number it is.

  • Deanna

It looks so good. I just wish I had room for a juicer!

  • Amanda

LOL this it too funny… I made this exact recipe ( I saw the recipe on the she The Chew) but I dont have a juicer so I put it all in the blender- FAIL! And I reeallllly wanted it to be good, ya know when you just WANT something to be so good so bad? Maybe I need to invest in a juicer 🙂

  • brandi

i saw this in whole living and have been dying to make it! i think i’ll do it this weekend. it’s such a gorgeous color.

  • MKBourgeois

Genius. Looks SO good! I can’t wait to try it, thanks for the winter inspiration! MB

  • Jeremy

Great recipe, I juiced some cilantro in it as well.

I own a Breville ($150) and an Omega ($300), both great juicers. Like anything, start a routine or hobaking baby steps then work your way to flying. Omega is better for mastication and extracting but higher price point. If you only juice once a week just find a juice bar. If you find you are juicing more than 3 times a Week spend a few hundred, best investment I have made.

I have been juicing daily, do juice fasts time to time, and prepare my own meals (no fast food) and feel great.

    Good luck!

  • Mel

I made this for breakfast this morning and it’s GREAT!

  • Erica

Can’t wait to try this in the morning!

  • Heather

A friend told me about your blog after we saw “fat sick and nearly dead together”. I just purchased my first juicer today! Omega 8004! I can’t wait to use it woo hooo.

    PS love the blog!

  • Jo

I just made this…. it’s delicious. I didn’t have oranges in the fridge so I used apples instead. It’s probably a lil bit sweeter than this version. Really good though. LOVE putting ginger in juice.

  • Sam

What kind of juicer are you using? I can’t really tell which model from the photo. It looks like an Omega brand. I’ve been reading a few omega 8004 juicer reviews, but Im still open to suggestions.
By the way, interesting recipe…I would never have thought of using grape fruit and ginger together. Thanks.

  • Evelyn

I JUST bought a juicer, and am convinced this juice recipe is AMAZING!!!! I seriously don’t know why I’ve waited this long to hop on the juicing bandwagon!! My husband bought a massive bag of grapefruit, a huge chunk of ginger, and a 10lb bag of carrots from Costco last night, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be rocking this juice for a long time. 🙂

Thanks for the great recipe! (And I totally drank it out of a mason jar with a neon blue straw to get the full effect, too. :D).

  • Robbin Carlson

I found this recipe on PINTEREST ! I am sipping on it as we speak…..very much refreshing. Thanks for sharing 🙂

[…] The other day I was over at my mom’s house and she asked what she should do with the leftover ginger she had from another recipe and I immediately told her MAKE A GINGER SYRUP. That’s always what I do or I throw ginger into a fresh juice concoction.  […]
