I love lists, Friday!

  1. This cracked me up earlier this week. I’m actually still thinking about it.
  2. 10 years of marriage.  Such an important read for us married couples!
  3. I loved listening to Deb’s interview on NPR. I wish she’d make me breakfast.
  4. Ummm. Why didn’t I think of this? Easiest Way to Hang a Picture!
  5. Note to Self: Don’t ask a short person any of these questions.
  6. Kinda freaking out over these cookies.
  7. Let’s keep some ginger in our kitchen. Mmmkay?
  8. I’m really sad to hear this about Everyday Food Magazine. That magazine changed my life!
  9. After all the candy I’ve eaten, I crave salads like this one.
  10. Joy’s Dad is totes right.  I also totally understand how he feels about ants.
  11. Must stock up on tape this holiday season. Also! Sally is the queen of wrapping!
  12. I bet these Pumpkin Crepes would go well with my Pumpkin Cream Cheese.
  13. It’s the small things in life that get us through loss.
  14. How great would this Pumpkin Croissant Pudding be for Thanksgiving breakfast/dessert?
  15. This is REAL. This is basically my life.
  16. What a pretty color palette!

On this week’s Joy the Baker podcast, we play a fun game of GOOGLE AUTO FILL. It’s crazy what comes up!

My Makeup Drawer got ORGANIZED on High Straightenence this week. BOOM.

 My Bites Around the Net:

Sarah from White Plate Kitchen made my Pumpkin Pecan Doughnuts gluten free!

Crooked Hazel made my Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins

Elizabeth from Four and Twenty Blackberries made my Mom’s Sour Cream Coffee Cake.

Jen from The Baked Life made my Chai Coconut Coffee Cake.

Jomegs made my Kale Slaw with Red Cabbage and Carrots .

That is sad news about Everyday Food…and I like Whole Living too! Thanks for sharing the awkward situations… a good laugh to start the day. My favorite is the Spiderman-flying-out-of-your-butt.

  • Joannabee

I kind of don’t mind the contraction of all these mags. I have been a fan/reader/collector of MSL since day one and have every issue. I’ve liked many of the others but simply don’t support devoting that much time, money and paper to so many super-specialized pubs. Glad to have more of that content in the original. And in that same vein, as always, thanks Tracy for this great “Friday”round-up of what’s on the web…I am exposed to so many informational and entertaining things that I wouldn’t otherwise have the ability to see!

  • Sally

Thanks for the mention, Tracy!! And thank you for sharing about the picture hanging trick!! This is a total game changer!! 🙂

  • heather

I’m so bummed about everyday food. i’ve been getting this magazine forever…and continually look back on my past issues. it’s my first go to, and gift for reluctant cooks. wah.

  • Robyn

WHAT??! Everyday Food is my favourite cooking magazine and the only one I subscribe to! I’m so sad!

  • cindy

I totally saw those virgins kiss on TLC and it’s burned into my memory forever. Awful, awkward, awfulness. I wish I never saw it!

And, I am super bummed about Everyday Food. Sad trombone.

  • Moira

I’ve got rotten luck!! I just signed up for Everyday Food last month! Haven’t even gotten my first issue yet… booo…. And sounds like Whole Living (the only other mag I subscribe to) is going that way too??! On a positive note, the #4 on Awkward Moments link (the girl who realizes she’s in the background of a live news cast) totally cracked me up 🙂

  • Sarah Jayne

Thanks so much for the shout out, Tracy. 🙂 Your doughnuts are such a delicious treat – it’s the first yummy doughnut I’ve had since going gluten free.

  • Dottie

Your list Fridays are so much fun! I go through them with a nice cup of earl gray tea! Hurrah!

=) I LOVE what you wore for Halloween. My mom was just visiting and apologized for the wrapping paper on the See’s candy (hostess gift, YUM). It’s tiny, tiny black and white checks. I explained to her that I am OBSESSED with black and white: tiny checks, polka dots, herring bone (or whatever the various fabric patterns are), horizontally striped leggings, and that at that very moment I was wearing black and white polka dot undies. So, she felt better. =)

ANYhow, mostly writing ’cause I just saw this blog today, http://weekendreflection.blogspot.com/, where folks share their photos-that-involve-reflections on Fridays, and I thought of you. You’re quite good at such things, so if you’re interested in sharing yours, there ya go. =) xo

  • Petit Elefant

Good grief I want to make out with that picture.

P.S. I cannot find your effing email ANYWHERE, but I’m coming into town with a pal and we’re trying to round up a Sunday night dinner in the city, if you’re around.

    smooches!

Oh there’s a contact form under the ABOUT SHUTTERBEAN PAGE

I totally thought of you when I saw the MS/EDF thing on the news this morning. It is also the only food mag I currently subscribe to. Bummer! Thanks for another awesome Friday list.

  • Tiffany

Awkward situations! Love it. My favorite is the two virgins kissing on their wedding day…cuz I’ve witnessed it in real life and it’s seriously THAT awkward.

  • Erin DeGroot

Oh my heck. The awkward situations!! I died. Darn you Tracy, for sharing that…I scrolled through it as I’m sitting with my husband, who is watching Act of Valor. So I was sitting here, tears streaming, trying to contain my laughter, as Navy SEALS are doing some serious heroics on the screen. He definitely thinks I’m crazy now. I guess I better check out the marriage article next, haha.

NO NO NO NO NO! No to Everyday Food and Whole Living going away! I barely survived the loss of Domino and Cookie. WHY does this keep happening? Oh I am so sad, off to cry in some Halloween candy…

    • Tracy

I too am SOOO SAD. I LOOOOOVED Domino (which is kinda back now- have you seen it?!) and Cookie was amazing. I read Cookie right after I had Cooper and it gave me hope.

The publishing industry is changing! Advertising is changing!
