MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

If you listened to the podcast, you found out that I am thinking about running. Thank you for all of your encouragement and info about Couch to 5k! This week I started a walking routine. I’ve been up super duper early to get some exercise. It’s been great so far.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

I just chill out and watch the sun come up.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

I like to see new things on my walk. Like neon on the street.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Random flowers on the ground.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Chairs for FREE.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

I also see a lot of sprinklers come up early in the morning.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

I’ve also been trying to be more aware of what I eat. Yogurt with banana & raspberries.

I’m OBSESSED with raspberries right now.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

This one moment where it looked like Cooper was in my bowl. It’s like he’s jumping right in.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Watching our boo learn how to swim.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Batman hooded towel!!

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

I painted my toes gray.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

For a few seconds I had stripes on my feet.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

My niece, Camden spent the weekend with us. We LOVED having her here. She and I spent about 2 hours dancing on Dance Central 3 on Xbox. SO MUCH FUN. I love being her Aunt.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

We also took Cooper to his first movie!! We saw Monsters University.

He was so well behaved and ate SO MUCH POPCORN. He kept reaching over to Casey & I and whispering “This is the best time, ever!!!” into our ears.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Fro-yo for 4. I wonder if you could guess which one is Cooper’s.

MY EVERYDAY LIFE // SHUTTERBEAN

Hope you have a great weekend!!

  • cindy

sounds like the best time with your niece…also, froyo for life!

I actually remember my very first swimming lesson and how awesome it felt to float on my back for the first time, unassisted. Then, when I was in hs/college I also taught swimming lessons, SO MUCH FUN!

PS, the diamond-y fireworks are my ever-FAVE!

    • Tracy

You’re a saint! We were watching Cooper’s instructor thinking, WOW She is patient! You have a gift if you can teach a kid!

  • Tieghan

Your meals this week look delicious!!

The fireworks you saw look pretty good and all the dessert looks even better.

Oh and froyo is the best. I loved you last photo!

  • Tami-TeacherGoesBackToSchool

    your glasses are adorable.

did you know your haircut inspired me to cut all mine off? true story.

    • Tracy

Whoa. Really? That’s awesome! I hope you love having short hair.

  • Ellie

I just made the Farro Salad yesterday! I die! I’ve become obsessed with that stuff. Thanks for the recipe!

  • Chrissy

Super cute glasses! Can I ask what brand they are? I’m shopping for some new ones 🙂 thanks!

  • Amy

Love you in the glasses, friend. And you’re killing it on the healthy front! You inspire me. xoxo

  • Robyn

i had such a fun time taking my nephew to his first movie a few summers ago (we saw toy story 3). he loved it…except the part where the toys are almost thrown into the fire and he shouted “OH NO” really loud. it was so cute…but i was worried he was going to start crying. now he’s 8 and he wants to see superman, iron man, thor…anything with superheros 🙂

  • Mira C

Your family knows how to do dessert right! And yes to all the other comments about how freakin’ cute you look in glasses.

Your story about Cooper’s first time to the movies made me tear up, not going to lie. So sweet!

  • Jennifer

Don’t you just love it when your kid says something like that? We watched the fireworks from Sausalito but we could see the SF ones from there.

Happy 4th! Good luck with your running. I hate running. I walk everywhere though.

Here was our day in Sausalito: http://oururbanplayground.com/2013/07/i-want-to-rewind-today/

(you like black and white… I think I am discovering I like rainbow)

  • Gabi

Some really beautiful pictures. You’ve inspired me to start taking more of the little things which I find so beautiful, funny or priceless. Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to discover your blog. G x

  • Katie B.

Hi Tracy! I did Couch 2 5K and really loved it. I’d also recommend the Thirty Day Shred from Jilian Michaels. It has three levels and they are SO GOOD at kicking your butt in a very non-scary way. After doing it three times a week (at just level 1) for about a month, I am noticeably stronger and have more muscle definition. I think you’d love it. 🙂

    • Tracy

Oh good to know! Is that a video? I’ll have to check it out.

      • Katie B.

It is! Just $8 or so on Amazon with 4,000 positive reviews. 🙂 Best part? Each level is just a 20 minute workout.

        • Shannon

The 30 day shred videos are also available on youtube for free! I’ve been doing them as well as a handful of other jillian michaels videos over the past month and have definitely noticed a difference, while knowing that I can do them in the comfort of my own home without having to deal with other people being all judgey.

          • Tracy

Ahh! Good to know. I’m going to check them out. THANK YOU.

  • Jeannie

    Hi Tracy!
I just wanted to write you a quick note to say I’m proud of you for wanting to start running. I started myself 4 years ago and am still going strong. It’s a constant battle but I think you will find you enjoy it..plus you can eat more! Good luck to you getting started. I know you an do it. My first 5K was super hard but so rewarding. Good for you! Jeannie

  • Lizzie

More kudos to you on the exercise!

I’ll second the 30 day Shred recommendation from above. I’ve done a practice day or two, but had a cold at the time, so I’ll try again soon. It’s challenging, but quick, and people seem to get results!

Best of luck to you in trying to fit exercise in- it’s not easy!

  • Heidi - Apples Under My Bed

Oh my heart just melted reading what Cooper kept whispering to you in the movies. Ahhhhhh! Your parents have a super cool pad, look at them city folk! I miss SF. Nice job on the morning walks – I LOVE the morning, being up before everyone else. Feels like you’re winning. Oh & this Froyo business, was it Cooper with the fruit loops, then clockwise from that you, Camden, Casey? Is it strange that I bothered to guess that? Never mind.
    Heidi xo

  • Sara @ Confectionary Tales

Congrats on walking/starting to run! It’s a battle, and I don’t do it nearly as often as I’d like, it’s so much fun to run outside and explore new areas. I also use the Nike + app when I run that logs my miles and my time per mile as well as gps’s (is that how you say it?) my run. It’s a free app for the iPhone and it works great! It helps me step it up sometimes because I like to compete with myself (run .10 miles more, run a few seconds faster, etc)

  • Sarah

Go health! I love that your getting into fitness – so many of your recipes focus on veggies and grains, and they’re delicious. Health made tasty and cool by T. Dig.

  • Lucia

I’m in love with raspberries too: sweet summer gemstones!

  • dixya| food, pleasure, and health

i listened to your podcast yesterday while running and you can totally do it Tracy. Just wear those glasses if are worried about tripping 😛 You will do great – just do it 🙂

  • Hilary

You are so cute! Love the new specs.

The Couch to 5k (free) app worked great for me! I definitely recommend it.

  • heather @ chiknpastry

i enjoyed the 99th podcastio b/c the two exercises i do are bikram and running. which means i have barely any core muscles and floppy arms. but still 😉

i can hardly call myself a runner, but the couch to 5k is legit. i moved up to the 10k and pretty much run the week 2 runs 3 days a week. nothing major, but considering that i started by running not more than 30 seconds, it’s a big accomplishment. good luck!!

  • Olivia

Love the pictures! Great job on the running!

  • Rebecca A E

    The fruit loops are Coopers.

  • Angela

Couch to 5k is great! I’m in Week 5 now!

Also, we have a 3.5 year old and we took him to see Monsters University as his first movie ever as well. Pretty sure he ate all of the popcorn himself. I was dreading that experience, but it was so great. Glad yours was too! It’s a stressful thing, not knowing how your kiddo will act in a quiet movie theatre!

  • Kara

Couch to 5k is amazing…swear by it and love it! I was a complete non-runner two years ago – loathed that dang timed mile in gym class. Anyhow, completed C25k and have since run 2 half marathons. You can totally rock it!

  • Mandy

We took Ian to his first movie last weekend, too! Monsters University, too! He’s only 2 1/2 so he was a bit scared of the theatre, but once the movie began, he was all in. We had to leave about 15 minutes before the end because he started talking…still a success.
