My Everyday Life: Week 23

Here’s what this past week looked like:

I was in Los Angeles again this weekend. But this time for a project with Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. I got some quality MAJ time!

My Everyday Life: Week 23

On the way home from LA this morning. Having the window seat is always fun.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

My trip was amazing. It made realize how fortunate I am to have such solid friendships in my life.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Warm California sunsets on the way to dinner.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

The shoot we did for BHG was in this amazing house.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Just look at the pantry…

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Everything in the house was neutral. Makes me realize how much black I have in my house.

I don’t think I could ever do all neutrals….but I sure do appreciate it!

My Everyday Life: Week 23

There was lots of makeup involved for the photo shoot.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

And some serious eyelashes!

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Beautiful props. Giving props where props are due.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

I love you— Joy, Aida, Catherine, Gaby & Heather!

Sorry I’m not smiling with teeth!

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Fuel for the morning at Proof Bakery.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

My friend Catherine is a gem.  I also want all of her jewelry. K, thanks bye.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

I picked up a few goodies at the Clare Vivier sample sale in LA. I also met PUNKY BREWSTER there.

You know I was totally screaming OMG!!!!!!! (on the inside).  Dreams do come true, folks.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Legs for days.  My best friend is stunning.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

I don’t know. I just liked the colors.

myeverydaylife23 112

The moon in between two palms.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Behind me.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Finished Delancey. It was a really good read! I highly recommend it.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Par for the course.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

My friend Leslie is getting her house ready for Airbnb.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

She also gave me this Mexican peasant shirt!  It’s actually really long, but I folded it under.

I’m going to try to hem it sometimes soon. I love it.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Sinking into his chair.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Our washer & dryer project is almost complete… in the meantime I’m doing our laundry at the landromat.

It’s kind of amazing that you can get 6 loads of laundry done in less than 2 hours.

IT’S SO DANG EXPENSIVE THOUGH.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

I treated myself to a doughnut…because LAUNDROMAT.

My Everyday Life: Week 23

Love your weekly photo posts! I actually bought that black and white Target bag because I saw it on a previous Everyday Life post 🙂 I’m using it to travel tomorrow for work this week. It just fits everything I need.

  • Kati

I love your weekly overview of your everyday life. I fell it is getting better and better. This photos of this week are just amazing, so diverse and with so much attention to small details. Love it.

  • Hilary

That first picture of you & Joy needs to go in a frame in your house somewhere…you both look adorable! Friends <3

  • Carley

Your gel manicure didn’t last because it wasn’t applied properly (I’m a nail tech). If it isn’t done right it won’t last any longer than regular nail polish. I would get your money back and don’t go back to that place! It should last at the very least a week. Mine typically last a week and a half because my hands are in water so much. Your pictures are gorgeous!!! You should consider teaching a webinar on photography. I would pay to take that! Do you use your iPhone for most of these?

  • Sarah

There is a panda spotted on your luggage! I think it’s a panda at least. What is the object? Is it a zipper pull-a-long do-hickey? (I love calling things do-hickeys.)

  • Jane M

Last week I finished DELICIOUS! and DELANCY. 2 GREAT reads. Sad they’re finished. Now what shall I read on my new Kindle!!!! You sure had an awesome week!

  • Adriene

You both look gorgeous in that first photo. I admire anyone who can pull off a haircut like yours. I am also loving that top your friend is wearing… and I’m also missing L.A. Envy abounds after reading this post! 🙂

  • Jenn

Really enjoy these posts! Loved the tree trunk photo, the texture is amazing! (I think that photo would fit right in hanging in that neutral house in your first few photos.). Also loved the colors in that pavement photo.

    • Tracy

You’re totally right. I think I might want to hang it in my house now…

  • Kayla

Great photos!! As per 😉 Also is that Cathy Whims in the black/white photo of you ladies? I can’t wait to see the project for bhg!

  • Linda Renzulli

Tracy, my gel manicures last easily 3 weeks! I use a light color so as it grows out you really can’t see it, but it lasts easily that long.

    • Tracy

You also have the strongest nails known to man! I know because your son and grandson do too 😛

  • Mira C

Beautiful photos as always, Tracy! Your composition is outstanding.

I love the photos of you and Joy! You are both clearly so happy to be together!

In the initials photo, I thought to myself, “Shouldn’t they be T.S. for Tracy Shutterbean?” *smack my head*

  • Goreti Tada

Love all your posts! You have such great style and such no great aura about you.

  • Millie l Add A Little

Can’t wait to see that yummy summer salad recipe!
Love all these photos too, you look gorgeous Tracy!

  • Christine

    Glazed Old Fashioned….Best.Doughnut.Ever!

    • Tracy

      I agree…but then again I won’t pass up an apple fritter…..

  • Ellen

Whoaaaa, Fernet Juleps? I need this recipe.

  • Allyn

YAY MAJ! That makes me super happy. I seriously listened to the podcast all weekend while I was cooking and doing a million dishes.
That short lived gel manicure is a MAJOR disappointment.

    • Tracy

Isn’t it though? I’ve had only two gel manicures (out of about 10?) that have lasted two weeks. I think part of the problem is that my nails are pretty thin/bendable.

  • Hilary

Especially love these photos! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Also – love your bar necklace and headband! Where’d you get them?!

And.. you should be on Goodreads, if you’re not already, it’s a good way to keep track of books to read and ones you’ve already read!

  • Talia

I LOVE this post and seriously look forward to it every week. The ring in the photo of your (failed-ugh!) gel manicure is fantastic. Details? (pretty please?!)

You are every bit as beautiful as your friend! Pinky swear.

    • Tracy

Oh! I got that ring in Oregon about 9 years ago. Been wearing it ever since. I wish I could help you out more but I found it when I was shopping in a boutique store with my friend!

  • Maddy

got very confused by the initials pictures. i was thinking tracy shutterbean

  • Libby

I did my laundry for the first time at the laundromat this week. For about $10 I got three loads of laundry done in an hour and a half. That’s a price I’m so willing to pay.
Also it is warm and smells like dryer sheets. It might be a particular part of heaven. A particular part of heaven that’s filled with machinery, screaming children, and everyone is wearing their least favorite clothes. Because laundry day. 😛

    • Tracy

That’s reasonable for three loads! I did 6 and it was $30 something.

  • Jessica @ Living La Vida Holoka

OMGZ PUNKY BREWSTER! I’d probably be freaking out, too (internally or otherwise)!

  • Domestocrat

Also want to know about that gorgeous delicate necklace!

  • teressimo

Random question, where did you guys get those amazing shirts? Your mexican one and the one joy is wearing? (The black one with the embroidered flowers?) They are awesome!

  • djtopaz

Hi, can you tell me what MAJ means? I hear you guys say it on the podcast and I just can’t figure it out. 🙂

    • Tracy

It’s our way of saying BFF. Short for major. As in you are the supreme/highest ranking friend!

  • Catherine McCord

You’re magic Miss Tracy! Love every last bit of you. Grateful to have you in my world! xoxo

  • Melissa

Wow looks like an awesome week! That house is incredible…and I agree about the pantry. (Also BHG?! How exciting, can’t wait to hear more about it!)

Having best girlfriends is so important and it’s so good to realize that and to be thankful for them 🙂

Wishing you a great week ahead!

  • Ludi @BuildBakeTaste

Tracy you’re amazing.I mean.. I came home from the library pretty sad-monday like and this post just made me so confident and made me smile so much! you and Joy are such an inspiration! and your energy is amazing and inspiring.
Really, the best. big big hugs,
    Ludi @Build Bake Taste

    • Tracy

THANK YOU LUDI!! I raelly hope your monday gets better. I’m glad I can help turn it around a bit. MONDAYS ARE THE WORST!! xooxoxo

  • tara

    Oooh I want that purse!

  • Rhonda

Wow, awesome pictures at the photo shoot — y’all all look so amazing! And, I know I just said this, but wow, Cooper is really growing — the pic with Casey he looks like a teenager.

  • Jennie

The photo shoot looked like so much fun! I lived in LA for about five years and miss it so much. (Back living near my family in upstate NY now.) I have a 7 year old boy and 5 year old boy who also love Target’s electronic section. 😉

  • Rachel

I am also reading Delancey and am loving it! I actually live in Seattle and have been there before and just love the Orangette blog. She is also on a podcast called Spilled Milk that I definitely recommend if you’re not already listening to it!

Reading Delancey also makes me want to get my copy of “A Homemade Life” back out to read through the recipes 🙂

  • Claudia from Idiot's Kitchen

Okay, I’m just going to say it. You have the best sandals. I think you should add a sandal sidebar to your site (I’m only sort of kidding) so those of us who are shopping impaired can just click and ship. 🙂 Love the gold nail polish too. Fabulous pictures. I really enjoy the peek into your everyday life. Thanks!

  • Miemo

OMG why only 3 days for the gel manicure? I have white on right now, and its pushing 4 weeks. IT WILL NOT COME OFF. I was hoping it would come of naturally so that I don’t have to soak. But it looks like I have to soak. Looks like you had a great week!

  • Amy @ Thoroughly Nourished Life

Oh Tracy! Looks like you had a great week! All these pictures of summery people are making me jealous. Woke up to some frost on the grass this morning over here.
Love that BHG house! Our new place is going to be totally neutral paint and flooring but I can’t live without colour! So I have to find a way to introduce it without it looking too disheveled….
What a lovely bunch of ladies too! Major eyelashes and all looking beautiful!

  • Katie | The Surly Housewife

I was so excited to see this post for the week for some more behind the scenes BHG pics. Can’t wait to see what the project is. All of you looks amazing 🙂 Have a great week.

  • Amanda

    Looks like a great week!

The picture from the plane looks like an antique map, such a cool photo! I also really really liked the dead tree trunk picture and the moon between the palm trees

  • Sophia @ NY Foodgasm

Damn girl, hell of an awesome week! Loving all the pics!

  • Andrea

I would like a fernet juelip right now please. Is it made with the minty fernet or regular? Did someone already ask this question? Should I just read on? your cat is cute too.

  • joy the baker

you had a really big week! I LOVE IT!

  • Shana

I was in NYC this weekend and went to the Clare V. store (we only have one store in Toronto that carries her stuff and they only have like 3 styles) – I had gotten their email re the sample sale and was so sad that it was only in LA – sad face. But I still had to buy something – her bags are so well made – I love the colours you picked!

  • millie

love your style! so cute! can you please tell us more about your super cute shoes?? 🙂

  • Heather Christo

awwww Tracey, I love this post. XOXO.

  • Lorin

I literally took almost the exact same pic flying into SFO this week. So cool! Don’t know why I’ve never noticed it before – do I usually fly in at night?

    • Tracy

I find it so fascinating. What is all that??! Do you ever notice the FOSTER CITY sign? It’s pretty cool too.
