One more for good measure.

I like it when my bacon is crispy and it’s a big bonus when it’s infused with ginger and candy coated!

Candied Ginger Bacon

serves 3- 4

  • 10 slices thick cut bacon
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup crystalized ginger
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 400F.

Cover a large baking sheet with foil and place a cooling rack on top. Lay bacon strips on the rack, making sure not to overlap. Place remaining 4 ingredients in a mini food processor and process until the candied ginger has broken into smaller bits. Add about 1- 2 teaspoons of water to loosen up mixture and continue processing. Spread the ginger mixture evenly on each piece of bacon. Place bacon in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is nicely browned and caramelized. Remove from the oven and serve.

  • Question

Where can you find candied ginger?

    • Simone

Trader Joe’s carries it, but if you don’t have one close by, you can usually find candied ginger in the supermarket’s produce section, or on the baking aisle, with the choc chips and sprinkles. If you can’t find it outright, the produce staff at your market will be able to help you. Hope this helps- Good luck!

This looks like a great ice cream add-in to me! Also, Father’s Day gift!

Would you ever consider a dash or two of cayenne in the rub, or does the ginger give that hint of spice?? Now I want to make this, find some banana ice cream, and make Joy’s cracker sandwiches…

    • Tracy

The ginger gives it some spice. If I wasn’t trying to feed it to my kid (WHO LOVES BACON) I would have added a little bit of spice (probably sriracha!).

  • Gaby

Well you have caught my attention, and I am interested!! Looks amazing!!

    Can’t wait to make this.

So I’m going to try one thing different. I made candied ginger and now have ginger syrup. So that cuts out the ginger and maple syrup. And since it’s made with sugar already no need for the brown sugar. But I also added vanilla to the syrup. This is going to be awesome on bacon
