Summer Bucket List- 2015

Summer Bucket List 2015 // shutterbean

Here’s what I plan on doing this Summer while Cooper is on Summer break—

  1. Paint the kitchen cabinets inside & out
  2. Reorganize the kitchen cabinets (sort/purge, etc.)
  3. Go to the library once a week
  4. Read at least two books (any recommendations?!)
  5. Trip to Tahoe with family
  6. Take Cooper jet-skiing
  7. Grow tomatoes in our backyard
  8. Go Bowling!!!
  9. Impromptu Road Trip
  10. Water Balloon Fight
  11. Kayaking with friends
  12. See a matinee in the movie theater w/ Cooper
  13. Have a big BBQ party
  14. Adventure in the Redwoods
  15. Oysters in Tomales Bay
  16. Make a few new boozy popsicle recipes
  17. Hit up a few beaches with Cooper
  18. Farmer’s Market Visits (weekly!)
  19. Spa day with my niece, Camden
  20. Reupholster bench for living room

I suppose if anything makes it onto my Instagram, it will be tagged with #shutterbeansummerbucketlist2015  I’m hoping to make a little photo album for Cooper with all that we did this Summer. Stay tuned!

What’s on your Summer Bucket List??!!

    This is so cute!
I used to do this with my kids when they were little (they’re all in university now!). We used to go out for breakfast on the first day of summer vacation and make our list. I would have to “alter” it a bit (because things like “walk the great wall of China” always made it on the list!).
This was before the Internet (imagine!) so documenting wasn’t as easy. If I could turn back the clock, I would have kept all the lists because we had so much fun (especially when it reached the end of the summer and we tried to cross everything off our list…which meant crazy road trips to crazy places!!).
I wish I could go back….those were some of the best times!
Enjoy Cooper…you will always remember these days!
    xoxo

Me and my hubs work in the garment center which means we work HARD July and August. Been this way my whole life as I come from a garment center family. So we LIVE FOR THE WEEKENDS when there aren’t TRADE SHOWS of course! Your list looks terrific! You should read Martha Stewart’s blog today – she went over the planting of tomato platns. Happy summer to you and yours!

  • Livia

    Sounds like fun!

  • Tori@Gringalicious.com

I’m in! This list sounds like a blast and I hope you can complete everything on it!

  • Sid

Well, it’s Winter in Cape Town, South Africa at the moment so I don’t have a “summer” bucket list. But I might be travelling to California soon. Might get to experience Independence Day. Yay!

  • Paula

I am so into this! Looking forward to making my own summer bucket list today 🙂

  • Sara

Have you read Tuesdays with Morrie? It’s one of my favorite books.

    • Tracy

I read that one a looooooong time ago….but I think it’s worth reading again!

  • Rebecca

i just finished reading Station Eleven and LOVED it.

  • Liz

This is such a great idea, I’ll have to sit down and make one too!

Love this list!! We painted our kitchen cabinets in January and it was the best decision we made!! 🙂

  • Abby

Oooooh, I love this, Tracy! <3

  • Sarah

A bucket list is a great idea! Summers are short and intense here in Alaska and we work hard and play hard under the almost 24-hour sun…it’s hard to fit it all in! Two books I’ve enjoyed recently: All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (so beautiful) and The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman (historical + magical realism). Happy reading!

  • Lisa

This is such a great idea! I need to dedicate a lunch break to making my own.

I just finished “How To Be a Woman” by Caitlin Moran. It is funny (like embarrassed about laughing out loud on the bus levels of funny), real, inspiring and so memorable. I forced myself to ration it out, it was so good.

  • Nicole @ The Dirty Oven

This summer is moving out of our house to have the whole thing remodeled. Summer bucket list is to not have a panic attack.

  • Eva @ All Books Considered

I am a book blogger so I have tons of book recommendations for you but I literally just finished The Truth According to Us by Annie Barrows and it was amazing! Just posted my review today, too

Good luck on the list — so many great things!

  • Beverlily

Hey Bean, How about a cable car ride on your list?

  • Latasha

Can you get your handwriting made into a font? Because it’s my favorite!

  • Jen

I especially love the library shout-out on your summer bucket list! I am a librarian 😛 Don’t forget to register for Summer Reading
( the national theme is Heroes if your library does that). I bet they have great programs this summer out there that Cooper would love! We are having a comic artist come to teach the kids how to draw comics. 🙂
I love your blog, and all the creative inspiration it brings to me every day. Friday lists rock ( I peruse at work–ssshhhh!)

  • Shawna H.

First book that comes to mind is Brain On Fire, by Suzanne (….?). Very intriguing. I did not want this book to end! I have like 700 other books I could recommend, so I’ll leave it at that for now. 🙂

  • Ellen

You’ve probably seen or read it already but I’m pretty sure you’d dig The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.

  • Amanda

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker is a peeeerfect summer read. Breathtakingly beautiful writing and totally captivating story.

  • Trude

Great list! I fell out of the habit, need to make one this year. Love the bite out of the popsicle. 🙂 Tahoe in the summer is the best!

  • Emily @ Life on Food

I love the album idea. We are redoing our kitchen this summer. I am super excited and in full on panic mode.

  • Lori

Love your bucket list and love your photo album for Cooper idea!

  • gilli

You make my fridays extra happy with the Friday Lists! I just read The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll and listened to In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume. I highly recommend both of them!

  • carrieloveskeith

I loooove the Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson. I think there are 4 books in the series. I read it to my boys but I loved it as much as they did. I bet Cooper would love it too
