My Everyday Life: Week 44

Here’s what My Everyday Life – Week 44 looked like:

Two big things happened this week- Halloween and a trip to Jamaica.

HELLO JAMAICA.

I am so impressed by the color of your water.

I especially love how dark the horizon line is. I couldn’t get over that shade of blue.

OK! So why was I in Jamaica? How rude of me to wait this long to tell you.

Remember how I did that cruise with my Maj a almost two years ago for the Click Retreat? Well, this week  I flew to Jamaica to attend the #clickretreatjamaica to teach a food styling workshop.

It’s a photo retreat + social media conference/retreat/type thing. There were about 50 of us (almost all women) from all across the country. There were a lot of DIY bloggers, lifestyle bloggers and a few food bloggers. Most of them moms!

The retreat was at the Hyatt Ziva in Jamaica. The property is gorgeous and the staff was super attentive. Their hospitality is genuine. I appreciate that.

We had some pretty awesome sessions during the retreat.

My friend Mer Ra and her husband Brian led a photography exercise where we all discuss our self portraits we brought with us for the trip. It’s so fascinating to see what people you don’t know have to say about a photograph of you.

Me Ra  + Brian are both incredible teachers. Their energy is electric! I look up to them and respect them so much!  I’m contemplating taking one of their workshops in Thailand….

Ryan Christopher Jones (who is an extremely talented photojournalist) gave a talk about photojournalism that I really enjoyed. As a writer/photographer, he created a dialogue of how structuring of a sentence can be similar to building a good photograph.  I had never had that information delivered in that way before, so I really dug it.

Here are some of my notes:

More than arm chair traveling! Each photograph is like a magic wand pointing to the many possibilities that exist every day. Very inspiring, and you never know who you are inspiring. 😉 … especially the picture of Cooper as Big Papi…not just one, all of them…together…individually….Happy Sunday

I know you’ve talked about this before on the blog, but could you remind me what your “go to” pens/markers are for taking notes? I’m dying to know which one is the one you used to write the word, “Conversation.”

  • Jamie

Love the pictures and the content of you posts..but I am OBSESSED with your handwriting!!! Have you always printed like this, or do you work at refining it. And can you teach me? Thanks for your blog and I Love lists! Jamie

I’m trying to learn how to blog and yours is one I read religiously! This one however was AAAAAAAAAAAmazing! Thank you!

  • Priya

Your Albert Einstein in amazing! Love it!!!

  • kristen

Oh Tracy! Your introvertedness is what I love most about you!

Have you read the book “Quiet” by Susan Cain? It’s about introverts (my hubs, he’s so sweet). I am half introvert and half extrovert according to the test in Cain’s book

    • Tracy

I have that book! It’s right next to another book I have called Driven to Distraction on my bookshelf. Which is to say that I haven’t read all of Quiet. I did watch her TED talk and it was such a light bulb moment for me!!

I think I am also half introvert/half extrovert. But I’ve noticed that the half extrovert in me is fueled by my curiosity in understanding/getting to know other people. I love information gathering aspect of socializing, but I need a lot of space to process it. Does that make sense?
