What are some of your intentions for the week?

Leave a list in the comments!

  • Lucy

I love that you have S-town on there twice (must be top of your mind)!

And as someone who also lives in the Bay Area (Palo Alto), you can never really put away all of your winter clothes 😉 I had to throw a quilt back on my bed last week.

I love this idea btw, I love to-do lists, but should create a master “intentions” list that has nothing to do with work.

    • Tracy

I haven’t finished it yet…I need to be driving longer so I can!

and you’re right, as much as I want to transition into lighter clothes, i’ve been reaching for my hoodies. We still have the quilt on our bed too.

  • lauren

Hi Tracy! I love these posts (and s-town), I find them super motivational and a good way to think about my own intentions for the week. Have you ever done a post about your own approach to time management? I have two kids and work full time and feel like I never have time for baking or crafts or even sometimes just general “housekeeping” – which I actually enjoy! I would love to hear some of your thoughts if you’ve never shared them before! It feels like you have more hours in the day than I do – which is obviously not the case, but you sure seem to know how to utilize them!

    • Tracy

oh good question! i’m actually trying to figure out my system at home so hopefully I’ll share it soon. My problem is that life shifts and things come up so I have learned that I have to be FLEXIBLE during my week. It’s hard to get a week to go according to plan!

  • Emily

I love this series! Crossing things off a to-do list is the best! I also have been LOVING your bullet journal and pen posts! You inspired me to finally start a bullet journal and it has been fantastic so far 🙂

My to-do list for the week:
    Buy Mom a birthday present
Buy a wedding present for my brother
    Mail RSVP for friend’s wedding
Finalize bridal shower guest list and get remaining addresses
    Make Bunny cake!
    Make Carrot Patch brownies!
Drink more water (a never ending to-do)
Eat healthier and log meals on My Fitness Pal
    Work out 3 times
Read for at least 30 minutes a day
    Finish watching Seinfeld
    Make doctor’s appointment (ughhhh)
    Order wedding invitations
    Research rehearsal dinner venues
Figure out what to make for Easter at Grammy’s house

    So many things!

    • Tracy

i am curious about carrot patch brownies!
i have only lasted 2 weeks on My Fitness Pal before I give up. Also, I’ve tried to do it again several times and only lasted a week. SO HARD FOR ME because it distracts me and then I can’t get back to it.

I am so glad to hear that the bullet journal system is working out for you! that makes me so happy!

      • Emily

The Carrot Patch brownies are from one of those “Delish” videos on Facebook haha
You bake some brownies, add a layer of frosting, and then a layer of crushed Oreos. Then you melt white chocolate and add a little coconut oil, and dip strawberries into that to make the carrots. You put those on top of the brownies and scatter some chocolate eggs around the top. They look cute, and I actually work at a place called “The Carrot Patch” so I thought they’d be a fun treat to bring to work 🙂

  • Sarah

I got the majority done from last week but still haven’t finished those dang thank yous!
    This week:

    -Finish Cynthia project
-Finish audiobook (Blood Bones and Butter– so good!!)
    -Clean up/pick up office
    -Trim carpet pad in office
-Thank you notes for Smiths + Jamesons
    -Return J,Crew jeans
    -check on Nordstrom return
-walk to and/or from work if it’s not raining
    -Finish citrus sketchbook spread
    -Read before bed
    -Yoga on Thurs

  • Jamie Saville

S-town blew my mind. What the what?! Still processing.

  • Megan

Commenting on this helps me get my own to-do list together–so thank you!

-Restock desk with sparkling waters to get me through the week
-Volunteer at KY Humane Society 2x
-Make hubby’s favorite batch of veggie burger patties to get him through the week..
-Prep Easter Crudite platter & Dip for weekend family get-together
-Use extra time in the evening to log some additional miles (runner here..) and listen to podcasts instead of sitting in front of TV
-Go to husband’s band rehearsal on Wednesday-it’s a much needed mid-week break
-DO NOT skip date night this week/our one night to go out to dinner instead of cook
-Take dog to local pet store for their DIY Pet wash station–time for Spring flea & tick treatment!
-Vacuum out car, wash in between rain showers…
-Plant more veggies and herbs in new mini greenhouse that arrived (also, buy another grow light!)

Have a great week! Let’s make these intentions, actions!

    • Tracy

loved reading your list!!!! thanks for sharing- what’s your favorite veggie burger recipe? I’ve been looking for a good one!

      • Megan

His preferred veggie burger (many many years of playing around..):

1 Acorn squash, cooked and mashed.
Cooked quinoa (I use about a cup uncooked, give or take)
Can of black beans, rinsed and drained
        one egg
Little squeeze of sriacha, salt & pepper, cumin pinch
        Garlic cloves (to taste, grated)
        1 c panko bread crumbs

Mash all together, form into patties. Bake at 415 on oiled cookie sheet 10 minutes, flip and cook another 10. Top with grated mozzarella. You don’t even need the bread if you don’t have a bun handy…
        They are addicting.

  • Michela

Just wanted to echo everyone’s enjoyment of these posts. It’s such a motivation to read everyone’s intentions for the week and to list my own. I’m an Upholder, so this format is key.

    Weekly Intentions:
-Walk the big hill outside after work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
-Find two new Whole30-compliant recipes for next week
-Read three chapters in Big Magic
-Finalize itinerary for January’s trip to Prague and email it to the in-laws
-Commit to a 15-minute evening tidy so the house isn’t a disaster come Friday
-Resist filling up the weekend with social obligations so I can be fully rested/prepared for extroverted Easter Sunday
-Plan a surprise Saturday date with T
-Do nothing Sunday evening so the final hours of the weekend are languid, not harried

    Have a great week, everyone!xo

    • Tracy

      oooh! an upholder! yay. welcome!
I like how you are being a good advocate of your time – so you can be in the right mind frame for Easter sunday!! Good luck this week.

      • Michela

I learned I need to be a good advocate of my time (INFJ here!) last month after my in-laws came to visit from Europe for 2 weeks. *breathe in, breathe out*

  • Airlie Loiaconi

I really loved doing this last week and am so happy the post has made a return appearance. I was fairly successful last week, so hopefully my motivation carries forward to this week.

-Eat dinner outside at least 3X (It’s finally warm in DC and I would like to take advantage of it.)
-Walk at lunch at least 3X
    -Read one book
-Work through magazines (We have so many magazines and I refuse to move them to our new house in a few weeks)
    -Drink more water!
    -Drop off donations
    -Organize car

    • Tracy

do you read a book each week? (I wish I could!!!)

getting rid of magazines is oddly liberating. highly recommend!

  • Kristin

Oooh, I love this! I missed last week’s but this is a great idea. I’ve been really struggling to keep up with bullet journaling lately; I like the idea of using this as a catch-all to keep track of to-dos as well as more holistic things like drinking more water or making time for self-care.

    This week, my list includes:

-finish S-Town (oh my gosh, I think we only have two episodes left and I can’t wait to get home and finish, it is blowing my mind!)
    -drop off donations
-ship online returns and present for Mom
    -research for non-profit volunteerism
    -brainstorm make-ahead paleo breakfasts
    -work, lots of work
    -apply for masters program
-read 30 mins before bed (put the phone down!)
-plan actual, proper, fun vacation for sometime this year

    • Tracy

wow! what are you going to get your masters in?
and i’ve been really enjoying volunteering lately. it makes the world a brighter place!

  • Jamie

Great job on your list! From last week I DID enjoy playing with paper each day, hug my little man a lot, and NOT play games on my phone before bed. But the rest of the list goes on this week:

    Yoga twice!
    Meditate twice!
Keep playing with paper AND start a journal with my thoughts and notes about each project
Lay out all the elements of my coin bra (bellydancer) and hopefully start to sew it all together because I need it the first weekend of May. (Don’t procrastinate)
    Rehearse my dances
Inventory the dang cupboards and fridges already. Sheesh.
    Plan meals already. Double-sheesh.
    Hug the big man – hubba-hubba ; )

    • Tracy

What kind of games do you play? I get sucked into Instagram or editing pictures on my phone.

don’t forget to hug the big man! 😉

      • Jamie

Instagram is a big one for me, too, but I get addicted to things like Angry Birds Blast that just use of time and waste brain power that’s better used reading, you know?

  • India

I love these! I just bought a small journal to actually write in something (vs put it in my phone) and you inspired that purchase.

My main goals are to send you a letter, work on challenging my negative thoughts with positive ones, and get outside for a break during work (even if it’s a quick one).

    • India

PS I am so, so curious about your book! Are you hoping for a recipe book? Art book? Or can you not share until later? (if so, i respect that)

      • Tracy

I am in the process of figuring out how it will all work together since I’m a variety is the spice of life kinda person!

  • Amy

Oh god, my iphone won’t even let me use email because I have no storage, so YES on deleting/moving photos off of it.

    Also finishing S-Town!

Besides that I’m getting a new camera tomorrow, so I’m accepting that I will probably obsess over it all week and not do much else. 🙂

  • Rebeca

    This week’s list is short:
    – Mail saliva kit (to become a bone marrow donor) – must be done this afternoon!
    – Look into getting a new phone
    – Get storage bins
    – Donate books
    – Print photos
    – Lots of snuggles with my man

I have Thrusday and Friday off (next Monday too!), so my biggest intention is to relax, take lots of walk to the beach and just slow down. 🙂

  • JO

I love your site, organising and food is right up my street, I’m curious how you manage to fit so much into your week… I am wondering if I am just a lazy person at heart?
Anyway my list for this week…
Connect the printer (& make it work)
    Write 2 letters
Clean my car inside and out (or arrange for the valet man to come and do it!)
    Cook a new recipe
    Walk
    Finish reading my library book
Buy Easter Eggs / arrange egg hunt
Sort ‘garden theme’ dress up for my daughter when she returns to school after the Easter holidays

    Have a good week xoxo

  • Paula

Ok I am officially adding S Town to my podcast playlist as everyone is talking about it.

    My to do list:

    Make raspberry breakfast bars
    Do laundry
Pack for my trip to the city with my girlfriends from uni over Easter break
    Fill up truck with gas
Get cash (such a pain to go to the bank)
Mark stories for my LA 9 classes
Print off final exams for LA 8
Pack up two shelves in my classroom (I start my maternity leave in 3 weeks)
Make up my daughter’s Easter basket

I swear I could have filled up a couple more lines with more marking and teacher planning but not everyone wants to read about that lol.

I am loving the list idea for accountability.

  • Sara, Ms. Adventures in Italy

The best is yet to come with S-Town! 😀 Finished last night.

  • Laurie

I’ve never thought of writing out a specific list if things that need doing, or are mandatory to do’s.
What a great idea, as I am the most unorganized person on the planet, I can see how terrific this would be & kinda keep me on track.
Thanks for sharing that idea! Laurie
