My Everyday Life: Week 1

Here’s what the first week of 2017 looked like- My Everyday Life: Week 1

It rained most of the week, but there was sun one day and we exploited it.

Cooper got involved. He’s a great sorter.  I wonder where he gets that from…..

I would say I have shed about 15 bags of stuff.  Two trips to Salvation Army and I’m working on another one soon. I ordered a bag from ThredUp so I could sell some of my stuff. Has anyone used them before? I figured it was worth a shot.

I also got rid of my maternity clothes.

It’s amazing how many emotions can be wrapped up in things.

It’s also amazing how fast time flies.

Tracy your Everday Life posts are always so inspiring, charming, revealing and for this tired old lady, humbling! Thanks for sharing with us.

It’s been nice following along with your organizing on IG this week. I’ve been weeding out, also. I realized that I normally move every 2-3 years and that really helps keep the “stuff” down, but I’ve been here in Napa for over 4 years now with no plans to move. I’m feeling claustrophobic and really needed to do some hard work and get rid of some things. There is more work to do, but I feel a lot better after taking two loads to the thrift store.

Sounds like you’re making a good start to the year, Erica! Keep up the good work!

Hi Tracy! Your year looks to be off to a great start! Wonderful photos, as always.

I’ve used ThredUp many times. I really like buying from them because they have a good assortment of items and they are in good shape when they arrive. Selling to them leaves me a little frustrated. They pay very little for clothing, unless they are top designer brands, and now they charge a “bag fee,” of $9.99 if you accept their offer for a payout instead of donating the money. I just think that’s a steep price to pay, especially since they offer so little for the clothes I’m sending in. So I’ve been looking to see if there are similar sites out there, but I haven’t found anything. I used to buy and sell from Twice, which I loved, but they were sold to ebay. 🙁

Thanks so much for your input. I was hoping that it wouldn’t be that way!

I love the cartoon of the praying monks at the end there. The three enlightened ones are great! Where did you find that?

Happy New Year Tracy! I envy your organizational skills and the way you are able to purge – I am a pack rat myself and on occasion have been accused of hoarding. 😛 There is one thing that has helped me get rid of stuff, and though I don’t think you need this, it might be helpful for some of your readers:

I often want to keep items for their sentimental value, even if they are no longer being used. Since these things usually just end up in a box anyway, my husband suggested I take photos of things I want to remember, and then get rid of them. It’s a great idea! This way I can look back at the photo and have the memory but am able to get rid of the actual object.

    Jen 🙂

Very good idea….and then how to you manage those photos? That’s another problem to solve!
