Easter Weekend 2011

at the hiller aviation museum

Our Easter was a bit different this year. My family was out of town, so we had a very low key Easter at home, just the three of us. On Saturday we took Cooper to the Hiller Aviation Museum to see the Easter Bunny arrive by helicopter!

Spring Decor 2011

Over the weekend I took down my Valentine's Day decorations off the mantle. IT. WAS. TIME. I eventually want to put a pop of color on there...but I am not sure what color yet. This is what I came up with!

Everything is black & white.....just the way I like it.

What’s on my coffee table?

There's nothing that excites me more than a big stack of books & magazines waiting to be read. In the past few weeks I've been seeing more of my UPS man because I went on a little Amazon binge! I thought it might be fun to share with you what I'm reading; you can see what I'm up to!

1. The Food Matters Cookbook, by Mark Bittman (I can't wait to get cracking! I'm so excited!! I love Mark Bittman)

2. Appetite for Reduction, by Isa Moskowitz (I already have made 3 recipes!!)

3. Power Foods, from the editors of Whole Living (GOOD food- organized in a great fashion. I want to eat it all!)

4. Potty Training Boys the Easy Way, by Caroline Fertleman & Simone Cave (yup, we're in the middle of THAT)

5. Commited, by Elizabeth Gilbert (Checked out from the library. A fascinating look at marriage & commitment)

6. 3191 Quarterly (I love seeing glimpses of Stephanie & Mav's lives)

7. Stress-Free Potty Training, by Sara Au & Peter L. Stavinoha Ph.D (you figure out what approach to take based on your child's personality. Neat! Cross your fingers.)

1. Donna Hay (STUNNING food photography, simple recipes, a lovely Australian publication)

2. Jamie (very cool layout, the recipes intrigue me & I love anything Jamie Oliver)

3. Food & Wine (a magazine that Casey & I can enjoy together)

4. Martha Stewart Living (do I really need to say more?)

5. Sunset (great ideas for trips, quality recipes & great gardening tips! I'd love to work there one day!)

6. UPPERCASE (graphic design, cooking, FUN FUN FUN stuff!)

7. Anthology (living, style, design, interior decor, GORGEOUS photo styling)

8. Everyday Food (the magazine I thank for igniting my passion for food!)

Valentine’s Day Decor 2011

Valentines 2011

It's raining today & we're stuck indoors so I declared today CRAFT DAY! I finally cleared off my Winter mantle decoration. I liked how it didn't SCREAM Christmas, so I kept it up longer than usual. While Casey & Cooper were playing with trains downstairs, I started cutting up a few hearts out of cute craft paper. I forgot how fun it was to make them when I was a kid! Totally brought me back!

Christmas Decor 2010

whoa!

Almost done decorating for Christmas! We put up our tree late Saturday morning! Probably wasn't the best idea because Cooper loved the tree soo much, he wouldn't take a proper nap. How could I forget  how exciting Christmas can be for a young one!?!  He kept calling for his Christmas tree. So far hasn't been touching the ornaments (that much) but he does insist on holding our hands and bringing us into the sitting room to show us the Christmas tree. I think he loves it.

Thanksgiving Decor 2010

mantle thanksgiving 2010

I was getting my house tidy last week for a certain house guest, and got motivated to take down my Halloween decorations. I normally keep them up until after Thanksgiving, but I kind of missed the clock that rests in the center of the mantle. I never realized how much I look at the clock until I took it away. I'd catch myself looking at the glittered black skull in the center of the mantle for the time! DOH!

decor

I wondered if I should really decorate for Thanksgiving? Christmas is just around the corner...do I need to put that much effort in? YES and NO!

So I simply took away the spiders, web & snakes.

My silver birds made another appearance! I left up my white pumpkins too.

And framed a THANK YOU note, to keep in the spirit of Thanksgiving.

THANK YOU

It will do! I'm excited for Christmas coming up! EEEEK!

hey

But for now I have a nice little reminder to be thankful for all the good things I have in my life.

Thank you!

Happy Halloween!

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! We sure did!

happy halloween!

Cooper was a Red Sox player. We TRIED to get him to wear a hat...but no dice.

He always takes them off the second we put them on him.

spidery

I was all spidery. My neighbor made me a spider hat! Isn't it cool?!

Halloween Decor 2010

Our living room is decorated for Halloween!

I put some black glittered pumpkins up....

the mantle

And decorated our mantle.

I got a cool black glittered skull from Target. Creepy!

skull

Spiders littered everywhere.

A few snakes too...

I put cheesecloth over the mirror with my Halloween banner.

I like the effect!

And bits of orange make their way into other parts of the house....

Some spiders & white pumpkins.

And a new glittered skeleton for our front door!

This is what it looked like last year!!

And here's our house two years ago!
