*MY* new lunch sack

I've been on the lookout for a new lunch sack for COOPER because the one I've been using for his food broke. Stupid zippers. It was really cute too! It had navy & magenta apples. It was pretty girly, but I bought it because I liked it. He wasn't at the age where he had an an opinion(he has one now!), so I took the liberty. It's my money, isn't it?!
I took a journey to San Francisco with my bff this past weekend, and spied this lunch sack within the first 15 seconds of walking into a cute little boutiquey shop. MINE!! IT MUST BE MINE!! And that's when the love affair started.
Here's a side shot. Yes I have dual monitors at work with my kid's mug on them! <3

I like it because:
- It's bold.
- We can learn the alphabet!
- It's well insulated! Nothing is gonna spill into my big ass purse.
- It stands out in my office fridge (don't take my shit!)
- There's a convenient handle on top.
- The velcro is SUPER strong.
- I love the font & get nostalgic for that old timey *paper*
- It's got a place where I can put Cooper's My name.

I found it for you on Amazon! There's some other cute stuff in the alphabet design too! I've got my eye on that spoon & fork! Look at the Floor Splat Mat!! The company is named Sugar Booger! Isn't that silly?
And while we're at it...let's see what I'm having for lunch today:

Vegetable Minestrone & a sweet potato with some butter! YUM
Sorry, Coops!! Momma is holding your lunch sack hostage. I'll buy you a special one when you are actually in school! Promise!
Easy Peasy Tomato Basil Pasta
I'm happy to announce that Shutterbean is now a contributor at Modern Kiddo!

My current fave Trader Joe’s dessert
Let me introduce you to what I've been eating for dessert for the past two months. Two months? Yes you heard that correctly. I'm totally obsessed. It's a combo of Nonfat Plain Frozen Yogurt with a few small scoops of Mango Tangerine Sorbet. Both items come from the freezer/dessert section of Trader Joe's. The combination is totally swoon-worthy.
I love the light creaminess of the plain/tart frozen yogurt and the tangy citrus-y sweetness of the mango tangerine sorbet. My taste buds love it and I think yours might too! Tangy, tart & sweet! I've been known to throw a few raspberries in the mix, but mostly I just eat a scoop or two of each flavor in a little bowl. It's EXTREMELY low in fat too, so you won't feel super guilty if you put extra scoops in your bowl. I hope your nearest Trader Joe's stocks these items because you are in for a real treat if you can get your hands on some!

Lunch Ideas– ROUND ONE!

Here's what I had for lunch today!
Fruit salad: Chopped mangoes, green grapes, blueberries & kiwis
Pasta: Chicken, bell peppers, asparagus & broccoli in a light cream sauce
Lunch. I look forward to it more than anything while I'm at work. It's important for me to fuel up at lunch or else I'll fall deep into Zombieland. Over the past few years, I've taken photos with my camera phone of my lunch at work. Yes, I am weird. Don't worry, my coworkers think so too. There's PLENTY of days where my lunch is not photo-worthy. But every now and then there's something fun, different and new in my rotation. I've decided to share some of them with you.
Most of the lunches below are leftovers of something I made the night before, or something I had in my freezer. Some of the lunches are just random things from my fridge- especially the salads. I like to bring a big bag of ingredients to work (the fridge at work is big) and assemble my food in the kitchen. The act of making my lunch is also a good break from number crunching. My point is, please don't limit yourself. As long as you have a microwave & fridge, you don't have to have boring lunches at work. If you have a toaster or a toaster oven, you are soo golden. We used to make french bread pizzas in the toaster oven at my old job. Talk about FUN. Anyways I hope these photos give you some inspiration for your boring old lunches. And yes, I am a dork. I freely admit it. A dork who loves food, camera phones and lunch! Brace yourself!

Snacks with Miss Freckle!

Today I'm guest posting over at Frecklewonder!
I'll give you a rundown of my favorite snacks!!!
What are some of your favorite things to snack on? Tell me!!!!
my current organizing tips

It's been raining a lot here in Northern California! A LOT!

It's nice, but it's prevented us from going on the afternoon walks I love so much.
Because I've been stuck inside on my days off of work, I've been trying my hardest to get organized and streamline my life a bit.
It's been a challenge, but I have implemented a few things that have saved me.
current faves:
Every time I visit my dear friends up in Oregon, I always come back with great ideas, good organizing tips as well as cool new products to try.
My friend Jessica let me in on her lil secret. Martha Stewart's Lunch Cube.
I couldn't find a link for one at Macy's, but this is the brand that makes it.

It's GENIUS. Look how it fits my items. And look how easy it packs up!
This will come in handy when Cooper and I are out and about and he's at the sandwich eating stage. I am really looking forward to it! I bought one for myself for work. At $4.99 each at Macy's how can you beat that?
I spied these beautiful products over at my friend Erin's house....and immediately fell in love with the packaging! After doing dishes with the Dish Soap, I was convinced I NEEDED some.
J.R. Watkins Apothecary Home Care Dish Soap & Hand Soap

Imagine the scent of a lemon cake filling up your sink as you work on the dishes!

It makes dish washing tolerable. That's for sure! Now I don't have ugly bottles sitting on my sink counter.
I just picked up this book from Amazon, and I am soooooo excited to work in the kitchen with it!
Super Natural Cooking, by Heidi Swanson of 101 Cookbooks

I've been wanting to expand my horizons in the kitchen- add more greens and more GOOD-FOR-YOU food. This will do just the trick!
Speaking of Healthy.....
I am also in love with Pop Chips. The BBQ flavor is sooo tasty & there's hardly any guilt to eating them!

And the other night I spent almost 4 hours working on a spreadsheet of my staples/favorites at Trader Joes. I am happy to report that it made grocery shopping yesterday much easier!
It pays to have a game plan when you go grocery shopping. It's my new favorite.

I also got some Butternut Squash from my neighbor. It's one of my favorite foods she grows!
SCORE!

How about you? What are your current faves? Let's share!
