Corners of my home….

guest car

It's June. It's raining. I'm stuck indoors dreaming of warm weather, popsicles, stripey umbrellas and sundresses. Instead, I'm reading books, making shopping lists, drinking tea and looking at the little corners of my home with my camera while the boy sleeps. Sun? Please come soon. Please.

Craft Project: Silhouette Portrait!

I've been wanting to do a silhouette portrait of Cooper since the day he was born!

new addition

In the midst of our super busy Labor Day weekend, I finally busted one out!

I used this contrasty photograph of him in front of our sunny guest room curtains.

I played around in Photoshop- cropping out his silhouette from the background...

working on it...

I printed out a copy  and traced it onto a thick piece of black card stock-then I cut that out.

I lined our fancy IKEA frame with yellow striped fabric and taped his portrait on top.

And here it is! (so far)

hello cooper!

I'm going to enlist the help of my neighbor to write COOPER in her perfect/scripty handwriting.

I'll place that underneath his portrait.

It feels really good to have that done. I keep staring at it because it totally looks like him--especially in the nose & lip area!

I'm really enjoying all the yellow accents in my living room. Can't wait to decorate my mantle for Halloween!!!

Valentine’s Day 2010

Hi you!

Hope you had a very nice Valentine's day!

Ours was a day of overindulging!

Casey gave me my own copy of A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from my Kitchen Table and panda card!

The card gave me permission to overindulge yesterday so I did!

happy valentine's day to ME!

It's a good thing I have my own copy now because I spilled a little butter on the library copy! Woops! Continue reading→

project: organize closet completed!

About two weeks ago I saw a photo posted by Amanda at Slow Like Honey on flickr of her closet to be organized. I too have been putting off organizing mine and thought,"This is ENOUGH! I NEED AN ORGANIZING CHALLENGE!!!"

Why?

-because I too needed to clean out my closet (duh)

-because I felt like I could be held accountable if someone else was doing it (it really helped that she set a deadline for me)

-because I've been wondering what the carpet in my closet looks like

-because I've been watching the Rachel Zoe Project and am dying to figure out what I can come up with in my closet. I have sooo many clothes and nothing to wear.

Over the past week I've been working on this project. I just looked at the before photos and CANNOT BELIEVE I lived in such chaos.  No wonder I felt like I didn't have anything to wear. Why did I not do this sooner? Oh yeah..cuz I had a kid maybe.
