KALE! I want to eat it, roast it, saute it, shove it into my mouth any which way, and now I want to drink it. Ever since Halloween, I’ve been eating too many sweets—though my recent posts could have told you that. So yesterday I needed GREEN JUICE to balance out my insane sweet tooth. Here’s what I made!
I added an apple to the kale to sweeten it up and threw a knob of ginger in there cuz I wanted it spicy. Result? FAB. I always feel like I could move boulders when I drink kale. It’s an instant boost.
I juiced the kale first and then added the ginger and apple.
Doesn’t make a lot of juice, but you don’t really need that much to feel the zing!
Ahhh delicious froth!
Excuse me while I gulp mine down.
Kale Apple Ginger Juice
(makes about 1/2 cup juice)
- 5 kale leaves
- 1 Fuji apple
- 2 inch knob ginger
Juice the kale followed by the ginger then apple! The apple will push out any leftover kale & ginger juice. Add some ice cubes and you’re on your way to deliciousness!

say somethingI feel healthier just looking at it. : )
heehee. Me too!
I bought me some kale this week and threw it in some black beans like you did a few posts back! Yumm…still have some left over and want to see how it is in a smoothie since I don’t have a juicer. That juice is an awesome shade of green!
let me know how that goes! I suspect it might be a little gritty…. Did you like it in the black beans??!
Maybe if I add some frozen berries, it won’t seem as gritty. The black bean/kale combo was fab! Also threw some sweet potatoes into the mix.
I like juice.
me too.
What a very fresh looking juice, getting thirsty!
Thanks! It was!
woah, go you.
Hey, we went all summer drinking those ginger blackberry lovelies you posted. So, the big question is, what cocktail are you serving with Turkey? I trust you. (I also trust Martha Stewart with drinks – big lush, that one – and so far I’m leaning towards a ginger pear something or other of hers.)
My dad always provides the wine!!! We drink A LOT OF IT.
Ginger pear sound SCRUMPTIOUS!! I’d add a little rum to that!
Did it taste good too? Or was it just healthy? (either way I’m gana try it cuz I am def a health nut and i LOVE kale)
~M~
Yeah of course! i wouldn’t post it if it didn’t
Make sure you use apple or else it won’t!
This looks incredible! I’ve made this same combo before w/ added cilantro and garlic too, and I believe some carrot. It definitely had kick to it. Oh man! I felt like a total superhero afterward!
A juicer is high on my wish list!!!
I’m curious how the blended method turns out… !!

I wish I could find kale over here!!!, but since I don´t have any I usually prepare a green juice with spinach + regular cabbage + apple and ginger too!. Is the best thing on earth. I love to drink a green juice in the mornings, it gives me so much energy and makes me feel good.
YES!! Green juice is the best. How does cabbage taste? I hear you hafta drink it fast.
i’m so excited – I just ordered a Magic Bullet that comes with a juice extractor(?) – now i’ll be able to make all your fabulous juices! thanks for such a great blog.
this is one of my favorite juices! i like to add a little lemon. yum!
I was thinking lemon would be a good addition! Good call! A granny smith apple would be good for tang in case you didn’t have one.
Your blog rocks. Lovin’ your green juice recipes.
Thank you!!
what the hell..3 inches of ginger was a horrible idea..it burned the whole way down..and i actually only used 3 inches with 3 times the amount of apples and kale…suggestion…use 1 inch of ginger if you are trying to make 2-3 cups of juice…
hmmm. Maybe my juicer doesn’t extract ginger in the same way that yours does! Thanks for the tip!
ooh good point..that would make a huge difference..its all good though. trial and error
I just made this, and it’s making me so happy. I’m convinced that ginger is the answer to making all juice delicious.
Delish!! I made it with 10 kale leaves and it was really delicious!
