We had a tough week last week. Within the first few days of 2011, I was plagued with a massive head cold. As soon as I started to feel better, Casey was down and so was Cooper. Unfortunately, Coop’s sleeping schedule was reminiscent of the newborn phase and the poor guy was barely eating (the horror!) Basically, it was the antithesis of fun. The good news? We are all on the mend and I think I have this new juice to thank for that!
It’s really important to get in a lot of fluids in when you’re sick. This juice will totally help with that. Not only is it LOADED with Vitamin C, it’s deliciously sweet and has a tinge of heat from the ginger. It’s so vibrant that you’ll still be able to taste it when you’re taste buds are all messed up. Just look at the color, and you know you are putting something good in your body. Cheers to fighting colds!
Let’s get juicing!
Here’s what’s involved.
Peel your oranges. I used Cuties.
Start juicing! Enjoy the froth.
See the nice layers? Oranges first, carrots second, ginger third & lastly orange pepper.
This juice makes enough for two servings.
Or if you’re super sick, drink it all yourself!
Soo refreshing!
See ya later, head cold.
Another cold remedy I employee on such occasions is Garlic Ginger Butter Toast.
It will knock that cold on its ass.
Orange Ginger Pepper Carrot Juice
Serves 2
- 7 small oranges (I used cuties!)
- 2 carrots
- 3 inch knob ginger
- 1 bell pepper (I used orange)
Peel the oranges & juice them. The pulp might be a little too much for your juicer to handle at once, so expect to clean your filter out before you juice again. Make sure you catch any additional juice. Juice the carrots, ginger and finish with the bell pepper to push it all out. Makes two servings.

Man! I’m so tempted to start trying smoothie versions of your juices. And my mind is blown by that garlic ginger butter toast.
So I’ve been putting my new juicer to good use, using it every day and I love it! Although, have you ever tried adding parsley to your juice? It seriously FLUSHED ME OUT. Wasn’t prepared for that.
Sorry to hear about your feverish family! ‘Tis the season though, I guess…
