Fact or Fiction: I was on an episode of Sesame Street as a child. Find out the answer on this week’s Joy the Baker podcast!

Love a good makeover story? This week on High Straightenence, I organize my pantry. Brace yourself. Things get messy!

I can’t be the only person with a weird obsession about seeing the insides of other people’s kitchen cupboards can I? Thank you for sharing, it makes me want to go and tidy my own!

    RE:

    2. That’s where I naturally blush! When something super embarrassing happens I feel tight pinching/prickling there, and sure enough, if I look in the mirror the ‘corners’ of my apples and my temples are bright pink. I’ve always tried to subtly recreate this when I apply blush, so I put it a bit high on my apples/right on my cheekbones, and extend it to my temples — the result is really natural and I never have to worry about awkward blush placement.

    7. I’ve never had a credit card, don’t use cheques, and use cash and money orders for virtually everything. When internet shopping came around we got a prepaid card to use online — after browsing we just load it with the amount we need — it’s perfect for preventing impulse purchases [since we generally have to wait until at least the next day to load the card], and we never have to worry about the card being stolen because there’s no money left on it after we make our purchases. [BTW, I’m mentioning this card because whenever we tell people that we don’t have a credit card and don’t use cheques, we inevitably have to answer the question ‘Well then, how do you buy things online?’]

My husband and I have a couple of credit cards but we use them strategically to get the points! We never put anything on our cards that we can’t pay for right away (usually it’s just the usually grocery store, etc) and we usually pay off our cards as soon as we charge anything, we never carry any credit card debt. I have a Southwest Visa and get about one free Southwest flight per year and we just got Chase Sapphire cards b/c the rewards are so good, we’re planning a big trip next year and it should help us get a free flight!

I purchased the Money Saving Mom book and we plan to use cash more. We’ve tired before but it doesn’t last long! The grocery budget is set and it will be interesting how much money we’ll have left in the last week of January and what meals we can come up with!

I love the Travelista site! Do you know http://www.travelettes.net/ ?

Those four reasons are exactly why I don’t own a credit card. But there are certain online sites (monki.com!) where you need one to be able to shop. So I am actually considering getting one. But here in the Netherlands I can use my normal bank card to pay things. I try to avoid that, though, because you can loose track of your purchases so darn fast.

    Tracy, Tracy.
I just heard the podcast and that you’re in salt lake city. If you still are, do yourself a favor and go to Banbury Cross for a donut. You won’t be disappointed!

I love lists too. And I love your lists!!
small request: when I close the link you listed it closes your website, I think there is way a change it that in your account options. Have you links open in a separate window.

either way, I love your blog, recipes and links. Thank you for sharing them!!
