#29. Grow some lettuce!

i'm growing stuff!

Working on another item from my 31 comes before 32 list!  #29. GROW SOME LETTUCE!

So here’s what I’ve got growing in our galvanized steel trough! Herbs & lettuce! I already know I’m going to add some basil to the mix.  I’m thinking of ripping out the parsley because it’s not doing well since I transported it. Still trying to figure out if I’m going to grown some tomatoes this year…..hmm.

From seeds I’m growing Mesclun greens (which is an assortment of greens! Arugula dominates!)

and Merlot lettuce. The word MERLOT reminds me of Sideways. Miles, would you eat MERLOT lettuce?

Sideways

I’m learning how to thin it out ! It’s already grown soo much since I took this photo last week.

Is it wrong that I just want to watch it grow bigger and bigger then take pictures of it??? Though..I might have enough for a big salad tonight. Wish me luck.

Btw- this is the start of the herb garden last year and here’s how it progressed!

I would love a little herb garden or just a patch in the garden to grow things. My garden is all gravel and railway sleepers.

Love the herbs and lettuce. Also got it in my garden 🙂

This has inspired me to finally start my garden! 🙂

One of my friends has a garden and sometimes she gives me some lettuce. Nothing beats the fresh stuff!

I love it that you used the galvanized steel trough to create your garden. Did you have to puncture holes in it to drain the water or is it deep enough to not rot out the plants… Also is it completely full of soil or did you put anything in the bottom? I might have to try this. Thanks~

Thanks Jess! We did drill holes in the bottom! We also lined the bottom with rocks to help drainage and then we added the soil on top. You should try it! I looooove mine.
