Strawberries! I have an overwhelming amount of strawberries in my kitchen right now. There’s definitely a reason for that, but I’ll get to that later. Right now I’m thirsty and I want to do something with my loot. The current issue of Bon Appetit suggests I make a soda with them. Yes. Good call, Bon Appetit. I like you even more now.
So here I am drinking this soda. It’s like grownup sparkling strawberry lemonade and it’s super refreshing! I can definitely see a lot of these in my future….with a lot of gin. CHEERS!
And we’re off!
Put the quartered strawberries in a tall glass with the lemon juice, basil, salt & sugar.
Now MUDDLE until the sugar dissolves. Add ice & club soda to the mixture. Let it chill.
And strain it over a new cup to collect all of the strawberries & basil.
Plop a strawberry in to finish.
Add a few more ice cubes in the glass. Take a sip!
Refreshing, isn’t it?
Strawberry Lemon Basil Soda
makes 1 drink
(Recipe slightly adapted from Bon Appetit, but originally from Contigo)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon raw sugar
- 5 fresh basil leaves
- 5 strawberries (4 quartered, 1 whole)
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 3/4 club soda
Combine fresh lemon juice, sugar, basil, 4 quartered strawberries, and salt into a pint glass. Muddle the ingredients with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves. Add the ice and club soda and let it sit until chilled. Strain into a 12 oz. glass filled with ice cubes and garnish with a whole strawberry.

This looks so delicious and refreshing. Super pretty too!
This is such a nice “adult drink”. I have to make this boozy and sit on my porch!
Yum, this is the perfect drink. It’d be fun to freeze some strawberries or even blueberries to use as “ice cubes” for the finished drink.
I love your little round ice cubes. Does you fridge make those?
i love combining strawberry and basil, so refreshing and spring-y!
last year i made a strawberry basil smoothie.
Goodness Gracious that looks deeeelicious!! I will probably add a little boozey to mine. Love your site and all the variety of goodies. And I also like those little round icecubes. How did you get them?

Mmmm. I love it! Sounds SO refreshing. I’m totally going to make it next time I get some basil. Thanks for the inspiration!
I absolutely adore strawberries, I like lemon soda and basil reminds me of Italy and summer and those two things I really love!
Is there any better drink then?:D
How do you like your Soda Stream? We’re thinking about getting one since we go thru so many of those giant cases of Crystal Geyer from Costco each week. Especially if it’s stressful at work since mama needs lots of scotch and sodas after a bad day!
Then you NEED ONE!! I love mine. I go through phases of using it and not…but overall I’m really really happy with it!! Highly recommend!
Your blog is amazing. I’ve looked high and low and no blog out there compares to yours! I LOVE it. simplistic, cute, and practical all in one. Thanks for all your inspirations and creativeness! Always look forward to what you’ll post next.
So refreshing! I have to say that I haven’t tried the strawberry/basil combo, but have been really wanting to lately. Love the color of this!
OK, who has added strawberry infused vodka?
Be honest.
(I haven’t because I can’t drink)
So I made this, except with bubbly wine instead of soda. Amazeballs.
