Brace yourselves. Your minds are about to be blown. You ready? You braced? Good.
What if I was to tell you that you can easily make chocolate milk that tastes like a frothy chocolate malt without using malt or dairy?
(Omg. This is starting to sound like an infomercial! Crap! I need a big screen projector behind me!)
Well, YOU CAN. You can make delicious chocolate milk with your blender!
(this is not an infomercial for a Vitamix cuz I don't have one. I want one though! Like really really bad.)
So this is raw chocolate milk. What makes it raw? So glad you asked! It's made with cashews that have been soaked in water! There's also cocoa nibs up in this mix which makes things extra fancy in my book. Looking to make plain vanilla cashew milk? Just omit the cocoa nibs and reduce the agave syrup. This recipe is a game changer & approved by my picky 3 year old. Winning!
And we're off!
Ingredient gathering!
Soak cashews in water.
After doing the soaking thing...add everything to a blender. What's up, nibs?
A little whirl in the blender.
Blend BLEND BLEND. Pour some in a cup. Add a straw.
Put the leftovers in a jar.
Keep that jar close by.
You might be ready for seconds soon.

This looks amazing! I love nut milks and have been meaning to try making my own. Chocolate and nuts is a win win in my book :-)
Any recipe that's approved by a picky three year old sounds like a winner to me!
I agree w/Kathryn - I'll have to try it with a picky 2 yr old and a psuedo-picky 4 yr old. They've already turned noses up at my almond milk experiment, but that lacked chocolate. I can't wait to try this recipe.
"What's up, nibs?"
Best. Cocoa nibs. Line. Ever.
Also, this looks amazing!
ooooooh, i'm intrigued! i've never had cashew milk before but this? this needs to change. and i like that it's practically health food!
If I had Oprah-like money, I would give everyone Vita-mixes. I finagled one from my parents (they'd received it as a gift and never used it, and I was a poor college kid in need of a blender). I didn't fully comprehend the power of it at the time, but it is the best. I've said before that if my house were on fire, I'd grab my dog and then my Vita-mix. (Assuming my boyfriend was already out ok) Also, this looks frothy and delicious!
this is so cool!
Oh man. I'm so excited about this.
This is going on my MUST make list!
MUST make this! love all the ingredients and for some reason the idea of "raw" = healthy in my mind :)
Never heard of chocolate milk like this! I've been making my own chocolate syrup for my chocolate milk. It tastes way better without the corn syrup! :)

Looks great! Totally going to pass this on my husband....what's up!!!
Definitely gonna give this a go! Mmmmm, I can taste it now! By the way, that is a seriously cool straw!
I need this in my life! I also need a stinkin blender in my life...do you think an immersion blender would be buff enough for this task?
Whoa, yum!! I'm a big fan of the froth.
Yum! This makes me want to do a cleanse. I love all of your recipes. Everytime I make one of your dishes (especially salads like the raw tuscan kale and the shaved brussels sprouts) my husband always says - "you make the best salads, where do you get the ideas?" and I always tell him - Shutterbean!
What a cool idea! I need to try this out soon :D
WOW! Making this. I love raw food, I love this recipe! xoxo
Yummy! Looks and sounds delicious : )
Do you think this would fare well being made in a food processor? Probably a stupid question, that I will most likely try regardless - because my blender is on the fritz (RIP). :)
would totally work! Just have to process it a little longer.
I'd love a vita-mix too. and those straws that you and joy seem to have on hand at all times. I LOVE cashew milk. the 3-day cleanse i just did had cashew milk this time instead of almond and it was FAB.
i think this is going to be my pre-yoga snack tonight. that works, right?
SOOOO glad you did this!!! I just experimented making raw almond milk last week and it turned out delicious! I will have to try the cashew now!
Vitamix...Sigh, I am also yearning for one! :( Too bad they are like a gazillion dollars!! That frothy milk looks SO swoon worthy. You done it again girl!
i KNOOOOOOOOOW!
Amazing. I've been making myself regular cashew milk quite often, but this sounds spectacular.
I dream of a Vitamix machine, perched regally on my counter.
A vitamix would have a place on my kitchen island. It's that legit!
I love cashew milk! I'm definitely putting this on my list to make. Thanks.
I love how frothy it looks!
Super frothy! Super delish.
Mmm! Totally want to try this! Who knew soaking nuts would equal this? Glorious day!
Life changing!
I see your GELS lasted...MINE did not. I use my hands just too too much. I cook a lot - so my hands are in water. I wear gloves to do the dishes, but it just doesn't help. Plus I'm always picking orders and my hands can't take the wear and tear of dragging cartons around, picking orders - so sadly my gel manicure is all peeled off. I'll have to paint polish on them tonight.
I took it off tonight! So it lasted two weeks. The grow out was kinda bothering me! My nails are a little bit dry and cracked as a result. Prolly cuz I peeled it off (annoying habit) but I'm gonna get them done again next week. I loved it.
Um, yum? Yeah I think so! I wonder what this would be like warm..
There is a restaurant near here that makes shakes with cashews / cacao etc. So good but so addicting. Probably don't need to make them at home.
Tracy! looks delicious ; )
Get a Vitamix! It's totally worth it -- I never use my juicer anymore. I got one with my tax returns last year. It is a game-changer.
Oh man, I want a vitamix REALLY bad as well! I'm totally going to try this and trick my kiddos into thinking it's real chocolate milk! I already have my oldest thinking almond milk is chocolate milk. Great post tracy!
I just want to thank you so much for this recipe. I made it for my family this evening as a treat, and it was a huge hit. Delicious!
Sweet!! soo glad it was a hit!
After seeing this recipe on Pinterest, I tracked down the ingredients after work and am planning to make it just as soon as my cashews are done soaking (hurry up, cashews!). I'm a little concerned about the cocao nibs I bought, though. I tried them out of the bag, and they were so bitter! Is that normal? Please tell me I bought the right kind. They just say "roasted cocoa nibs"...
Totally normal!
I just made this, and it is excellent. I used almonds, instead. I happened to have them on hand and not cashews. I also didn't have the coconut oil, so I didn't add it. Can I use something in place of coconut oil? Either way, it is delicious. Thank you.
If you liked it fine without, then no need to use it. It's a taste thing.
