Summer Bucket List 2019 + printable!

Shutterbean Summer Bucket List 2019

Four years ago, I started writing out my Summer Bucket List with Cooper.  It’s a good way to set intentions/a guideline of what we each want out of our Summer.  It keeps us on task and it’s really great at the end of the Summer to look at the goals we set and accomplished.  We also do this before we go on vacations! It’s a very fun/helpful process.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane:

I love this post every year and each time think I should do it and never do. This year has involved a massive move and enforced holiday dates thanks to a new job. Feels like the time to write a list and make sure that time doesn’t go to waste.

p.s. If you happen to make it up to Northern Italy let me know, my move has brought me to Verona and I’d love to share the best spots with you guys!

  • Krysten

Making an ice cream cake is on my summer bucket list too. 🙂

Rome! We loved walking around the Trastavere neighborhood, the Trevi Fountain is my favorite of all the big tourist attractions there, and OMG if you do nothing else, eat at Trattoria der Pallaro. It is amazing – a huge meal that left me full for 24 hours in the best way. So, so, so incredibly good. I still dream of it regularly.

I lived in Florence for a year and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Ristorante Buca dell’Orafo is amazing. Next to Ponte Vecchio, but not touristy. If they are serving pasta with peas, it’s mind blowing. Dai Dai (ice cream) for dessert.

Best gelato – and not touristy – Grom
Via del Campanile, 2, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
Also have locations in Rome and other places in Italy

Trattoria Mario – behind the Mercato Centrale (aka Mercato San Lorenzo) – best place for lunch. Menus hand written on paper and change everyday. Sit with locals and tourists alike. Worth the wait in line. Only open for lunch.
Via Rosina, 2r, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy

For Bistecca Fiorentina (Florence style steak) – there are 2 great restaurants on the same street. You order a steak to feed the table. It’s a HUGE porterhouse.
    Trattoria 13 Gobbi
    Trattoria Sostanza
Both on via dell’Porcellana sort of behind the train station

Sandwich shop for lunch – it’s incredible
    I Fratellini
Via dei Cimatori, 38/r, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy

That’s what I can think of for now 🙂

Tracy! I was in Rome in Feb and we found the best restaurant of our whole trip right before we left. Gioia Mia (Via degli Avignonesi, 34, 00187 Roma RM, Italy). We went our last 2 nights in a row. And my aunt and cousins were in Rome last month and went and they loved it too. Small place, lots of locals were there both nights we went even though it’s close to tourist-y stuff. Everything we had was excellent.

  • Lucy

Oh also I want to highly recommend the Rick Steves audio guide app. It’s all free and his walking tours are excellent. We used all of the Rome ones and also used the Pompeii walking tour instead of the one you can buy there. (I’ve also used his walking tours in London, the British Museum one takes you to some places no one else was looking at)

  • Heather

Woot! Please share the Rome and Florence tips! We are headed to each as part of our 19(!!) day honeymoon in July. 9 days on a Rick Steves tour and the rest of the time on our own. Cannot wait.

    Dear Tracy,

I’ve been reading you since almost the very beginning of your blog. I’m Italian and I live in Turin, so if you need any recommendation for your trip here just let me know! I’d be glad! (And also think about coming to Turin, it’s a gorgeous city!).
