Smoked Trout Dip

This Smoked Trout Dip from the new A Cozy Kitchen cookbook was a hit for my friend’s Halloween feast!  I was excited to try it because the smoked trout from Trader Joe’s (which Adrianna mentioned liking too!) is one of my Trader Joe’s Pantry Staples.

As I suspected, it was a real hit! Especially loved by a man dressed up as Larry Bird and a man dressed up as a sea captain! A SEA CAPTAIN loved this smoked trout dip. I believe there was a Kenny Rogers who was pretty into it too.  I’m glad I thought to double the recipe!

I’m thinking it deserves a spot on my charcuterie board from here on out. It might make its way into my weekly meal prep too…I can see it working with my gf everything bagel obsession… I love the addition of celery and capers!

Ingredients involved:

All the chop therapy!

Whipped cream cheese mixed in.

In comes the trout.

Fold in the trout.

DIP!

To serve, top with chives and put out some crackers!

Welcome to the holiday rotation!

I bet the rest of my family will like this.

Smoked Trout Dip

recipe slightly adapted from A Cozy Kitchen Cookbook

makes almost 2 cups

  • 8 ounces whipped cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 red onion, minced
  • 2 celery stalks, minced
  • 2 tablespoons drained capers, chopped
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 4 tablespoons minced fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2  teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 ( 3.9-ounce/105g) cans smoked trout, drained

In a medium serving bowl, use a silicone spatula to mix the cream cheese, red onion, celery, capers, and lemon juice. Add the chives, dill, parsley, black pepper, and salt, and stir again. Add the trout and fold to combine.

Garnish the dip with more chives and serve with crackers and hot sauce if you desire.
