Blistered Shishito Peppers

Blistered Shishito Peppers // shutterbean

Shishito peppers are popping up in the stores these days. I just bought some from Trader Joe’s! Like…a lot of them. I usually throw them on the grill with a little bit of olive oil and some kosher salt but yesterday I didn’t feel like turning on the grill. I just sautéed them in a non-stick pan with a little bit of olive oil and salt…turned the gas on high and cooked them until they blistered & softened. Within a few minutes I created a very healthy/satisfying and I didn’t have to man the grill.

By the way…they’re amazing on pizza!

The first time I had these was out at a restaurant and they served them with some sort of aioli. It was amazing! Shishitos are so fab.

We throw in some soy sauce at the end of the blistering too. So addictive!! And it’s kinda exciting when approximately every 5th one is spicy.

Funny, I just bought some at TJ’s for the first time this week! I was just thinking I really had to cook them tonight. Is it true that one out of ten is really extra hot? I’m a little scared, haha.

Last night we made these, and then put them in tacos with scrambled eggs, salsa, cheddar cheese, and lettuce. AMAZEBALLS! You should definitely try it sometime.
