My Everyday Life: Week 26

Here’s what My Everyday Life- Week 26 looked like:

Casey and I saw the Flight of the Conchords this week. They were amazing.

We had a cocktail + fried calamari first.

The show made me feel so many feelings like:

They’re such an amazing team and it made me miss podcasting.

How cool would it be to be a lighting technician?

How do they keep a straight face all the time?

Where do they come up with all this stuff? They’re so funny.

It feels interesting/weird/cool to be in a whole theater of people who appreciate humor.

Date nights on Monday nights aren’t that bad.

LOVE seeing all these shots. You see things so creatively, and it definitely inspires me to look for the ridiculously cool little things in life.

My roommate last year is a lighting designer, and it’s so impressive! It also meant we had scraps of various filters, a projector, and all sorts of stage design sketches all over the place, but it was really interesting to learn a little about something I had hardly thought about at all.

    • Tracy

Oh wow! That’s rad. Now that I think of it, I should try to find a photography lighting class. I never learned how to use the gels!

  • Maggie

    You never disappoint! Love this.

  • Megan

Oh my goodness — that picture of golden California! I grew up at the base of the foothills, and could almost smell and feel the crunchy summer grass looking at your picture. 🙂

Also, your delicious food photos always make me want to do better all the way around. One day, I even might!

    • Tracy

YES! Does that mean you remember getting stickers stuck to your clothes when you were running through the hills?

  • Ellen

That Lewis Carroll quote is excellent. Have a great long weekend!

  • Kathryn

Being a lighting technician is pretty awesome. Thanks for appreciating it! It’s not something non-theatre people tend to notice or talk about, so thank you.
Last year at school there were a couple pieces I designed where I went into programming/designing with a very specific vision of what I wanted – and I was able to achieve exactly what I wanted! It’s such an amazing feeling having a vision of what you want come to life. =D

    • Tracy

That is SO AWESOME. It’s amazing how much drama you can add to a performance. What you do is a true gift/talent!

  • Chloe

I’m sorta obsessed with your backyard, deck, tree view… when I visited SF I didn’t get quite the same tree experience. In general where should I look on Airbnb next time I visit to try to see similar towns as wherever you live? Also, I should mention I want to be a California girl (one day). From a sad, northeastern girl who wants redwoods and the JTB podcast back. <3

    • Tracy

Oh! I live in Marin. We have a bunch of trees here. If you ever want a redwood experience, try a place near Muir Woods here. It’s such a beautiful place to be. Mill Valley on Airbnb is usually full of houses that are surrounded by trees. ALSO- You have to check out Big Sur. It’s further south, but it is MAGICAL if you are into redwoods like me 🙂

  • Rachell

Speaking of the Podcast, What happened? I’ve been checking for updates forever and there is no mention of why it stopped.

  • Katie

    Please revive the podcast! <3

  • Christina

That family dinner is everything! Thanks for the inspiration. Happy Summer!

  • Tricia

Seeing FOTC next weekend in Boston. Woo Hoo!! Can’t wait.

Loved Cooper in his NE shirt. Reminds me so much of my youngest boy…the only one not towering above me.
