Currently September 2020

Currently September 2020

September was weird, filled with some ups and downs.  Cooper’s school started back up.  We are glad to have Cooper back in school so we can work from home with less distraction. It’s been tough to juggle it all!  We have had so many fires here in California that it makes every day unpredictable. When you’re stuck at home AND cannot go outside because of the air, it’s really a big bummer.  Another bummer is that another one of my good friends moved out of California and that makes me so sad. Life is just not the same as it was!

Here’s my September spread from my Currently Workbook.

I used my favorite colored pencils and drew all of the things that were growing in my garden in September.

Lots of colorful things in my yard!

Now that I have experience with growing flowers and vegetables from seed, I can’t wait to plan next Summer’s garden.

And we turn the page…

And get into it!

All of the good things that happened this month.

Let’s break it down!

Inspired By:

My garden.

Art play dates with friends!

I got a Cricut for my birthday in August and I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with it.

Also cleaned up my spice cabinet this month. It was a long time coming! Having a clean workspace is pretty inspiring, no?

Watching:

Gray’s Anatomy– we are on season 3 I think? We stopped watching for a bit because we started watching The League.

Career Opportunities- shared this gem with Cooper. He loved it.

The League- we started rewatching this because it’s funny and we’ve already seen it so if I fall asleep to it in bed it’s no big deal.

Love on the Spectrum- I’ve been catching some episodes on Netflix every now and then.

Ratched- only watched the first episode but I can’t wait to get into it more. The costume design is AMAZING.

Yellowstone– Casey has been watching this and I’ve been listening to it while working.  He seems to really like it!

Thinking About:

The future, the holidays, finishing projects for the holidays, school, LIFE, and how the next few months are going to shake out after the election.

Listening To:

To get me pumped up…

To remind me that sadness IS a blessing.

For when I find myself in scarcity mode.

When I need some pep in the mornings…

I don’t know why but I love this song…

this song tickles my ears and I love it:

This one also!

Dream Life:

All this month, I’ve been tracking my sleep on my Fitbit Versa and I am having a hard time breaking my average of 6 1/2 hours of sleep each night. I’m trying to get that up! I cannot seem to get to bed earlier…and my body wakes up naturally SUPER EARLY. Womp Womp.   I do not remember my dreams that much other than they take place in the past in SF.

Eating/Drinking:

Hand Roll Sushi Night!

I made a lot of pizza this month on the grill using my favorite pizza dough recipe.

Casey went through a bagel & lox fad.

I made ice cream with sweetened condensed milk this month and shared our new favorite treat- simple sundaes.

Tomatoes from my brother in law and basil from the garden!

My oldest brother came over for dinner! He’s vegan so we made a vegan version of my Mom’s Lemon Chicken.

He hadn’t had her chicken in YEAAAAAAAAARS so it was nice to be able to recreate that experience together.

Drinks with neighbors with a view!

I did some meal prep this month! It was nice to put the effort into eating healthier.

I drank a lot of Lemon Ginger Elixir when the air was super bad and my throat hurt!

Grateful For:

my health

my family

my garden

my home

my friends

therapy breakthroughs

Goodbye September, HELLO OCTOBER!

I’d love to know what you did to make the lemon chicken recipe vegan. I’m vegetarian and would love to recreate a honey mustard chicken recipe my mom made when I was growing up. Ground beef recipes seem easish to adapt but chicken seems harder.

    Grilled pizza is the best!
