Sunflowers are associated with August and being a Leo and I didn’t like them much when I was younger. I was annoyed that my birth month flower was a sunflower. Now?  I LOVE THEM and want to grow even more next year.

The electric fry pan photo has me tearing up a bit remembering our family’s pan – I was visiting my mom in Iowa for her 82nd birthday this year. She was making her famous hash browns, and her electric fry pan wouldn’t heat properly. In typical Midwestern fashion she was casual about it. It was, in fact, HER mother’s, and had been in use for decades — no wonder it was so familiar to me! (And it’s probably a miracle that no lives were ever lost due to a major house fire,)
I offered a new fry pan, but she figures she can get along without one since new ones “aren’t as good”. She may be right, And the secret to the hash browns is really the copious amounts of butter used.
