Healthy Road Trip Snacks? Do they exist? THEY DO!!
We’ve had to be on the road a lot for baseball, and I’ve become an experienced snack packer for our road trips. My guys are always down to stop at fast food restaurants and gas stations for sustenance. Me? Not so much. That’s where meal prep comes in!
Before you pack for a road trip, here are some questions to ask!
- How long will you be on the road?
- Will you have a cooler with you so you can store things?
- What’s the easiest thing to eat while on the road that won’t make a mess?
- Can you have the snacks accessible to you so you don’t have to stop?
Here are some sample snack situations.
(This is the stainless steel bento box I love!)
This combo includes: strawberries, gf crackers, salami + cheese, and trail mix
Pack a deli container with Greek yogurt, bananas & granola. Bring an ice pack or a portable cooler if you can!
This combo includes: apples with lime (a flavorful way to prevent browning), trail mix, carrots & a bagel with cream cheese.
I included a napkin for good measure!
Pack a pasta salad! I recommend Cold Soba Noodle Salad or my Mediterranean Pasta Salad for a road trip.
Pack a salad TO GO! This is a meal prep container, which makes it easier to eat if you’re in the car.
This is my Chopped Italian Salad, by the way.
Another good salad that travels well and can be eaten out of a deli container is my Thai Broccoli Salad!
This combo includes sliced cheese, figs, grapes, stuffed dates, and trail mix.
Pack an insulated food container with a soup! I think this one has Chicken Soup in it.
Here’s a big jar filled with apple and persimmon slices. I had a fork in the glove compartment 😉
Don’t forget to pack some fresh fruit!
