My Everyday Life: Week 7
Here’s what this past week looked like:
Happy Valentine’s Day from Cooper!
We made our Valentine’s again this year because the ones I bought FELL APART when we took them out.
We have the best time making art together.
He gets really into it!
And of course he’s always in it for the chocolate…

Quick Pickled Cucumber Salad
Today’s snack is something I’ve been eating all week. What I do is cut up two Persian cucumbers, drizzle them with some rice wine vinegar, add a splash of sesame oil and give it a good stir. I let it sit for about 5 minutes, then I add toasted black and white sesame seeds on top. The tangy crunch is kind of addictive. The sesame oil gives it a little oomph. I’m happy to report that Cooper’s super into it too….as long as I let him put allllllll the sesame seeds he wants on his cucumbers(which is a ton).

Brownie Roll-Out Cookies
Sometimes you just need to roll out some dough…you know?
And sometimes you need to melt some chocolate and turn it into art.
Edible art! These cookies come from The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook. Deb has shown us how to make a brownie that’s a cookie and a cookie that’s a brownie. I picked this recipe because it’s a perfect way to knock out 36 little treats if you have some little party or school function for Valentine’s this week. I made these little sandwich cookies two years ago and last year these cinnamon sugar hearts (made with tortillas!) were a real hit. But really, how can one resist chocolate and sprinkles?
