Currently March 2020

Hello, from quarantine. 

March was pretty crazy, no?

We started our sheltering in place here in California on March 11th because of the coronavirus.

Casey and my brother both turned 43 this month we celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary.

We have enough toilet paper! 

YAY!  

 

Cooper started school at home and we are navigating a new routine and digesting the fact that he probably won’t be going back to school until next fall. *gulp*

WHAT A CRAZY MONTH. I am so grateful we are all healthy and we have what we need. 

I am trying to be present and not live too much in the future in my brain.

Intentions for the Week – Week 14 of 2020

Happy Monday, friends!

Guess we’re gonna be home for a while, huh.  How’s it going with you?? I’m feeling a little stress right now. Life is so up-in-the-air right now!  I’m trying to find the light.

I spent most of the weekend gardening and cleaning up the house. It’s insane how messy it gets when we are all home at the same time for WEEKS. School from home adds another level of clutter around here. Our kitchen table is turning into a mess.  

Besides doing school from home with Cooper, my big goal this week is to go through my pantry and organize it. 

This week I am going to get back into writing down what I am eating in my food journal.

All I want to do is eat right now and I am not paying attention to HOW MUCH I AM EATING. 

 I have a few left if you want to order one and join me!

I LOVE LISTS

  1. Kids trolling their parents. Some pretty smart kids in this bunch!
  2. The biggest distance learning experience in history, week 1.
  3. The discomfort you feel right now is grief.  Yes it is.
  4. A whole bunch of bean recipes!

  7. People who are having a worse quarantine than you.
  8. This boyfriend was such a good sport.

Simple Drop Biscuits

Even though I don’t have a lot of flour at my disposal right now (social distancing from coronavirus), I have made these Simple Drop Biscuits twice since we’ve been sheltering in place.  Hello, comfort food.

They make me think of my grandma, who was able to whip anything up on a whim because she stocked her pantry to the nines. She would have enough flour to make these drop biscuits every day for the next few months. 

I was already prepped with toilet paper before this all went down (phew!), so you know, priorities…

I love biscuits but I don’t really like rolling out the dough or cutting them. I tend to overwork it and my dough doesn’t always rise as much as I want it to. You too?

However, this dough is a dream. I like that I don’t have to have buttermilk (we always have milk!) and I can just scoop them out into a skillet to bake. No rolling out. 

 It was nice to have these in our house this week.  These simple pleasures, like surprising your family with biscuits help keep memories of good times alive.

Intentions for the Week- Week 13 of 2020

It’s MONDAY!  We are on day 12 of quarantine here. School is in session (at home) this week.

We work from home together! We are trying to find a rhythm. 


 

We are only allowed to leave the house to get essentials (like grocery shopping).  I am starting to lose track of time. Life is weird.

I made a list of things I’d like to get done around the house during this time. This week I’m focusing on my pantry. 

 

Last Week’s Intentions:

  • STAY HEALTHY (feeling fine so far)
  • stay at home as long as we can
  • track my steps on my fitbit
  • MOVE MY BODY
  • laundry
  • celebrate 14th wedding anniversary with Casey!
  • therapy (it might be remote!)
  • straighten up office
  • keep Cooper on task with school work
  • organize prop closet
  • organize pantry
  • keep calm
  • take deep breaths
  • put things aside to donate
  • straighten up boxes in the garage
  • go for a walk outside
  • renew library books
  • do some reading: currently reading Spook
  • make biscuits/share recipe
  • make banana bread  (froze the bananas!)
  • sit down with my calendar and plan
  • package/ship food journals The Handwriting Club 
  • track what I eat in my food journal this week
  • work in my Currently Workbook/ 
  • catch up on social media
  • drink enough water 
  • pull cards and write in my sketchbook
  • paint nails (toes and fingers!)
  • work in my sketchbook

My Everyday Life Week 12

Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life Week 12 

Haven’t been able to welcome anyone in our home. It’s weird!

My hummingbird feeder is getting good use. It’s been very entertaining.

Since we are sheltering in place, I spent a lot of time in our yard this week.

And a lot of time managing Cooper’s school work while trying to get everything else done.

But we made it through our first full week of school at home cuz of the coronavirus.
