SHUTTERBEAN + MINTED GIVEAWAY!

Reminder Alert: Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

This year I decided to doing something a little different; I'm making personalized journals from Minted!

When I was at Alt last week, I spied these cute/custom journals at the Minted booth. Top-notch paper & print quality, customization options, with a fantastic assortment of designs? COUNT ME IN!

A few days ago, I made six personalized journals yesterday for a few of my friends & family. Each journal contains 40 pages of lined/unlined paper. I made the executive decision and chose lined paper for each journal and I customized each one of them with a few personal touches. Here's what my journals will look like:

This is a journal for my Valentine. That's me & Casey. Although I think I'll be the one using this notebook ;)

Since that journal might be a little too girly for Casey, I made him a custom wine journal!

He's always stealing my notebooks & ripping papers out. Now he has a special custom journal with a few pictures I took of wine on the outside. On the inside I put a picture of me drinking red wine.

I also included a cute little quote from Dean Martin- "You haven't drunk too much wine if you can still lie on the floor without holding on."

Hilarious.

Here's one for Cooper! I bet he'll love the fact that his picture is on this inside.

We can draw in it together. I'm pretty excited about that.

Here's one for Joy. It's special, just like her. Maybe she'll scribble ingredients for a super special recipe in it?

Maybe she'll draw pictures of leg candy in it? Who knows!

My friend Christine deserves one! She's redesigning my website, after all!

Plus she just put up with my messy hotel habits at ALT. This print reminded me a little of her blog background.

I know she'll love the paper quality and the fact that her name is on it!

And of course I made a notebook for MY MOM. She loves reading & she loves making lists of books she's read.

Hopefully she'll like this little book journal! How could she not? I put a pic of Cooper in it!

I added a quote from Carlos Ruiz Zafón "Books are mirrors: you can only see in them what you already have inside you."

Here's the deal! I'm picking SIX different winners for this giveaway.

You each get to make your own custom journal!

My Current Fave Things GIVEAWAY!!!

I had fun putting together my first giveaway a few months ago and since then I've collected a few fun/ useful things for another round! ARE YOU READY?!

1.  Kikkerland Gray Paper Straws. Aren't they pretty?? They help fancy up your beverages! I've been using these a lot lately. They are really nice if you want your swanky cocktail to stand out! Bonus-they're made out of paper so throw them in your recycle bin when you're done. I should note that they're sturdiest paper straws I've had. No soggy paper straws for you!

2. Breakfast- To- Go container from Martha Stewart for Macy's. In this little container, you can put granola, yogurt & berries and take it on the go with you! Your granola will stay nice and crunchy because it won't touch the yogurt until you're ready to eat it! The best part is that there's a little spoon included in the container! My only complaint is that it's not bigger! But I guess it's all about portion control. Whatever that means....

3. Ceramic Berry Container from Anthropologie! Do I need to say more?? See it in action here! When I'm out of berries, I keep my garlic in it. Nothing makes 4 heads of garlic look pretty like this little ceramic container!

4. The Perfect Grocery Shopping List by Knock Knock Pads. This is a LIFE SAVER! This notepad has many good categories for shopping including: Fruits, Vegetables, Canned Goods, Deli, Breads, Frozen Foods, Condiments, Snacks Meat & Fish, Dairy, Pasta, Baking, Pet Items, Household, Paper & Wrap....There's also room to write extra items that I might need....like parchment paper, paperclips & a nail file for when I'm trying to be Macgyver!  I always carry a few sheets in my purse so I can come up with a list on the go! It also has a magnetic backing so it hangs nicely in my kitchen.

Casey has altered my notepad to say I'm ALL OUT OF love, I'm so lost without you.... (he's funny)

So there you have 4 of my favorite things right now. Want a chance to win them all?

Leave a comment below telling me.....

What your favorite snack is!

A winner will be picked at random next Monday! Good Luck!

My Interview with Lucinda Scala Quinn

A week ago, I was sitting in our basement in my bathrobe talking to Lucinda Scala Quinn, the Executive Food Editor of Martha Stewart Omnimedia about Bauducco Panettone. My hair was soaking wet and my cell phone was dangerously propped up on a stool while I was trying super hard not to wake up Casey & Cooper. I spent the previous week denying my nerves. This is no big deal. I've got this! Then, the few seconds of hold time made me a little frantic. Lucinda's voice came on the line and my heart sank. There she is....The one I've been watching on TV for years...The one who changed the course of my life with her perfect fried egg! Of course I blabbed to her about my love for her gorgeous cookbook, Mad Hungry: Feeding Men and Boys and how I've never cooked that many recipes from a single cookbook before! It wasn't until we started talking about panettone, when I felt like I could handle this level of responsibility. We're just two women, talking on the phone about addictive nature of panettone and how hard it is to stop eating a whole loaf in one sitting.

Here's our conversation!

My Current 3 Fave Things! Giveaway!

Here are the current three things that have CHANGED MY LIFE.

1. Coconut Oil. I LOOOOOVE this stuff!! My dear friend introduced me to this stuff and now I'm totally hooked.  If you've hung out with me recently, I'm pretty sure you've heard me rave about the stuff. It's like butter meets-coconut- meets olive oil. The coconut doesn't smack you in the face; it gently mingles with your taste buds, leaving you with a subtle coconut vibe. I've seriously had it on toast every morning for the past 3 months!! It's fantastic on waffles. Glorious on pancakes. Amazing on hot popcorn with salt & sugar on top. Fun in your oatmeal!  It's a good fat. Soo much better for you than butter! I can't tell you how often I spend my entire commute to work thinking about it....If you ever find yourself in a store craving some, make sure you by the extra virgin stuff! The refined version doesn't taste like much.

2. J.R. Watkins Lemon Lotion. Let me start off by saying that I HATE LOTION. I can't be bothered to add another step to my getting ready routine. It never dawns on me to put lotion on. BUT! I started putting this lotion on my hands every night before bed and I lay there huffing my fingers. Imagine smearing yourself with the scent of lemon cake with sugary creamy frosting. It's ridiculously good and I think it's the reason why I have sweet dreams. This stuff has converted me into a hand cream lotion wearer! It's not only good on the skin, but it's a total attitude adjustment. I immediately feel better after its scent intoxicates me. Sometimes I put some on at work when I'm feeling especially stressed. Totally does the trick.

3. A To-Go Tumbler! (BPA Free) I can't tell you how many times have I've put- DRINK MORE WATER on my New Year's resolution list! This sucker helps me get my 64oz. on the daily.  It's insulated so it keeps my water cold and never sweats when I've filled it up with ice cubes. It's portable and totally fits in my car's cup holder!  Whenever it's running low on liquid, I immediately fill it up. Big points for a nice thick straw & a see-thru container. The best part is that there's a ridge on the bottom of the straw that prevents it from coming out all the way. Kid proofing!  I own two of them so there's no excuse to not always have one with me.

Guess what?!! I have all three of these items packed up for a lucky reader! It's my first giveaway and I'm totally excited!

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me:

One of your favorite food memories!

A winner will be picked at random a week from today!!

Good luck!
