Top Fridge!

When you get an email from a MAJOR appliance brand saying they want to send you a fridge to test out, you have to do it, RIGHT?! Oh good. I'm glad you agree! So we're participating in a test drive program with the awesome brand, Electrolux. We're getting a new fridge to test out! I'm so flipping excited, I don't even know how to contain myself. It's like getting a new car for a food lover/organizing freak like myself.

This is our current fridge that came with our house. It's a pretty good fridge but it's got a few issues. We're going to be pitting it up against the Electrolux to see how it compares! So folks, LOOKOUT!  We're gonna do Top Chef-like challenges soon! Who will be the Top Fridge? You'll soon find out!

What’s on my coffee table?

There's nothing that excites me more than a big stack of books & magazines waiting to be read. In the past few weeks I've been seeing more of my UPS man because I went on a little Amazon binge! I thought it might be fun to share with you what I'm reading; you can see what I'm up to!

1. The Food Matters Cookbook, by Mark Bittman (I can't wait to get cracking! I'm so excited!! I love Mark Bittman)

2. Appetite for Reduction, by Isa Moskowitz (I already have made 3 recipes!!)

3. Power Foods, from the editors of Whole Living (GOOD food- organized in a great fashion. I want to eat it all!)

4. Potty Training Boys the Easy Way, by Caroline Fertleman & Simone Cave (yup, we're in the middle of THAT)

5. Commited, by Elizabeth Gilbert (Checked out from the library. A fascinating look at marriage & commitment)

6. 3191 Quarterly (I love seeing glimpses of Stephanie & Mav's lives)

7. Stress-Free Potty Training, by Sara Au & Peter L. Stavinoha Ph.D (you figure out what approach to take based on your child's personality. Neat! Cross your fingers.)

1. Donna Hay (STUNNING food photography, simple recipes, a lovely Australian publication)

2. Jamie (very cool layout, the recipes intrigue me & I love anything Jamie Oliver)

3. Food & Wine (a magazine that Casey & I can enjoy together)

4. Martha Stewart Living (do I really need to say more?)

5. Sunset (great ideas for trips, quality recipes & great gardening tips! I'd love to work there one day!)

6. UPPERCASE (graphic design, cooking, FUN FUN FUN stuff!)

7. Anthology (living, style, design, interior decor, GORGEOUS photo styling)

8. Everyday Food (the magazine I thank for igniting my passion for food!)

And the winner is….

How exciting! One of my blog friends won!  Sara from Rhymes with Spoon, YOU ARE THE WINNER of my fun little Organizing Giveaway from FIVE SPOONS!! This little package is yours! CONGRATS! I'll be sending you an email shortly!

What’s in my bag??

yup my favorite

If you've seen some of my bag posts, you might already know that I've been on the search for THEE PERFECT handbag for what seems like FOREVER. I'm never 100% satisfied with my handbag purchases because I get so close to finding one that's PERFECT and then there's something that always ruins it. The straps, the pockets, the lining, how it doesn't fit all the stuff I have...you name it.

Organizing GIVEAWAY from Five Spoons!

I'm always marking up my cookbooks and when I look at them sitting on my bookshelf, it bothers me to see all the different pieces of paper sticking out. Tissues, magazine subscription postcards, cut up post-its and random bits of paper stick out of so many of my cookbooks. I can't tell you how many bookmarks I've lost because there's no sticky backing to the paper. Grrrrrr!

It's time to make a stand. With the help of these little stickies from Five Spoons, I can now have piece of mind when I look at my bookshelf. I'm able to mark all of my favorite/tried & true recipes from each of my cookbooks. I love that.

Project Magazine Hoard = COMPLETE!

Confession: I'm a magazine hoarder.

I have stacks of magazines spread throughout our house. When I don't make time to read AND sort my magazines, they quickly start piling up. You can imagine how many stacks I have since I have about 8 different subscriptions. My magazine hoard usually rests on my side of the bed, on the coffee table, or on my computer desk (see above). I also have a problem with not putting my cookbooks back in my bookcase! Yes--I'm bad. When I got out of bed this morning and knocked a stack of books on the floor, I knew it was time to tackle my hoard. Today was the day!

*MY* new lunch sack

I've been on the lookout for a new lunch sack for COOPER  because the one I've been using for his food broke. Stupid zippers. It was really cute too! It had navy & magenta apples. It was pretty girly, but I bought it because I liked it.  He wasn't at the age where he had an an opinion(he has one now!), so I took the liberty. It's my money, isn't it?!

I took a journey to San Francisco with my bff this past weekend, and spied this lunch sack within the first 15 seconds of walking into a cute little boutiquey shop. MINE!! IT MUST BE MINE!! And that's when the love affair started.

Here's a side shot. Yes I have dual monitors at work with my kid's mug on them! <3

I like it because:

  • It's bold.
  • We can learn the alphabet!
  • It's well insulated! Nothing is gonna spill into my big ass purse.
  • It stands out in my office fridge (don't take my shit!)
  • There's a convenient handle on top.
  • The velcro is SUPER strong.
  • I love the font & get nostalgic for that old timey *paper*
  • It's got a place where I can put Cooper's My name.

I found it for you on Amazon! There's some other cute stuff in the alphabet design too! I've got my eye on that spoon & fork! Look at the Floor Splat Mat!! The company is named Sugar Booger! Isn't that silly?

And while we're at it...let's see what I'm having for lunch today:

Vegetable Minestrone & a sweet potato with some butter! YUM

Sorry, Coops!! Momma is holding your lunch sack hostage. I'll buy you a special one when you are actually in school! Promise!

my current organizing tips

it's stormy

It's been raining a lot here in Northern California!  A LOT!

lucky boy

It's nice, but it's prevented us from going on the afternoon walks I love so much.

Because I've been stuck inside on my days off of work, I've been trying my hardest to get organized and streamline my life a bit.

It's been a challenge, but I have implemented a few things that have saved me.
