my current organizing tips

it's stormy

It's been raining a lot here in Northern California!  A LOT!

lucky boy

It's nice, but it's prevented us from going on the afternoon walks I love so much.

Because I've been stuck inside on my days off of work, I've been trying my hardest to get organized and streamline my life a bit.

It's been a challenge, but I have implemented a few things that have saved me.

project: organize closet completed!

About two weeks ago I saw a photo posted by Amanda at Slow Like Honey on flickr of her closet to be organized. I too have been putting off organizing mine and thought,"This is ENOUGH! I NEED AN ORGANIZING CHALLENGE!!!"

Why?

-because I too needed to clean out my closet (duh)

-because I felt like I could be held accountable if someone else was doing it (it really helped that she set a deadline for me)

-because I've been wondering what the carpet in my closet looks like

-because I've been watching the Rachel Zoe Project and am dying to figure out what I can come up with in my closet. I have sooo many clothes and nothing to wear.

Over the past week I've been working on this project. I just looked at the before photos and CANNOT BELIEVE I lived in such chaos.  No wonder I felt like I didn't have anything to wear. Why did I not do this sooner? Oh yeah..cuz I had a kid maybe.

productive sunday:

I woke up kinda hungover, but powered through. Soo much to get done! This is Spring Cleaning weekend!!!

Casey cleaned the kitchen for me and I immediately started cracking on my chores. It's soo nice when someone cleans your kitchen for you. It wipes the slate clean and the stress... THE STRESS of having to clean ANOTHER bowl makes me throw in the towel...over and over. I make such a mess in the kitchen and cannot keep up with my brain. It was the equivalent to an 80 minute back massage. I am serious about this.

I went through the freezer and tossed out old crap to make room for the baby food I made this AM. This should last a little while:

I made some croutons out of sourdough wheat bread:

I whipped up some pesto for sandwiches & some pasta this week:

Desperately trying to figure out a schedule!

hello you!

I'm on my second week back to work. Things have been a bit hectic...our eating habits have definitely changed. I don't have the luxury to make fancy meals as much as I used to. We are actually just eating to maintain! We are also watching our weight...so I can't go hog wild on puff pastry based meals....sigh...

So eating isn't as much of a hobby/treat anymore! I hope to change that soon, as I am reorganizing my life and de-cluttering my house so I can streamline things a bit. You won't believe how much I have to bring with me in order to go to work! It's insane. Oh! and the amount of time I spent cleaning bottles! Jeez....

I do enjoy a nice healthy breakfast every morning though.
My current fave is nonfat yogurt with honey, blueberries & ground flax seeds:

Speaking of streamlining- check this out:

one project knocked down….millions more to go

In preparation of the bebe, I've decided to get a bunch of stuff done around the house that I have MAJORLY procrastinated on.

I finally put up all the frames I had sitting around in my craft room on the wall in the living room!

project-almost done

I started out by taking inventory of the frames:

note to self:

next year for the holidays, make it easy and plan a vacation soon after.

Someone remind me that next December- OK?

I had a case of the sniffles & a mild sore throat during Christmas time.  I did a REALLY good job of ignoring it.  I wouldn't allow myself to be sick because I had so much to do.  So it wasn't until the hangover of New Year's day that my cold took the better of me.

I worked from home on Friday, which was wonderful because I could watch the storm outside and snuggle in my jammies while I crunched numbers. I also blasted the soundtrack to Juno which made it a better day. That night, we drove into the city and spent the evening with my parents eating at Jardiniere in SF.  The meal was fantastic.  So many wonderful flavors...great cheese and wine.  Happy Birthday Mom!

So I woke up Saturday hungover...and sicker.  I should have known better.  You should never drink when you aren't feeling well to begin with.

Someone else please remind of that too.  Thanks.

So Saturday I slept...watched tv...stayed home most of the day.  But then I was starting to feel like a shut-in---So I invited my neighbor over for a quickie/impromptu late afternoon lunch:
